CNN’s Cuomo on N. Korea: “Congrats to Trump Admin — Able to Move the Ball”
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 03/06/2018 5:44:40 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

I slapped the side of my TV to make sure it was tuned to the right channel. But yup, that was indeed CNN and Chris Cuomo, opening a discussion on the news that North Korea has indicated a willingness to discuss denuclearization, with praise for President Trump:

“You have to say congratulations to the Trump administration. They were able to move the ball here.”

And the rest of the panel — Alisyn Camerota, David Gregory, and Chris Cillizza — joined in acknowledging that this is a significant achievement for Trump.

Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

I am quite sure, quite sure that they made N. Korea know with a high degree of clarity that they were going to level their, country (and still might), if N. Korea were to going to continue on the path to nuclear weaponry.

Amazing, how easy it is, when you have a cabinet made of adults as opposed to people like Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Brennan etc etc etc.

Quite, firm behind the scenes diplomacy.

Our man gets a couple wins in his pocket, and watch out, it’s only the beginning of winning.

The New York Times article couches this move as one North Korea made, and that President Trump is being put in the uncomfortable position of having to negotiate with them now.

Trump’s North Korean success would hinge on the notion that North Korea is actually sincere about disarming.

That’s totally ridiculous.

As always, this is a complete ruse.

The Norks also signed a treaty with Bill Clinton and they promised to end their nuclear program.

Of course the anti-American NYT would spin it that way...

Interesting. The MSM had to come up with some negative spin on Trump, and looks like the NYT found one.

CNN New Day opening this morning ...

How will President Trump respond today to claims made by one of his former campaign aides, Sam Nunberg, in a series of bizarre interviews yesterday? Nunberg is angry over a grand jury subpoena requiring him to turn over thousands of e-mails with former campaign officials.

I'm not so sure that's the reason. I think the President is being effective in hurting China's economy. Renegotiating NAFTA to cut off China's access to American markets (through Canada and Mexico), putting tariffs on aluminum and steel, and stopping the purchase of Chinese steel through Vietnam are all having an effect. If I have to guess (and I do cuz all I know is what I read), I'd say that the President has offered to lighten up the sanctions and normalize trade a bit if the Chicoms get N. Korea to play nice.

Oh, I think you’re right on that also, but generally speaking, Trump let’s everyone know exactly where he stands. Unlike the sneak in chief before him, or the gutless wonder, Bush too.

I bet Trump let it purposely slip to the North Koreans what we were prepared to do to them. Do you recall the bomb Trump dropped on the Taliban while the president of China was in Florida as Trump’s guest?

I still don’t trust the North Koreans, but we will see.

Was reading about Washington. He was 6’ 2” tall. Trump is 6’ 3”. Lincoln was 6’ 4”.

Trump has the air and confidence of a man who knows men, real men. I think Reagan was the same.

No, Trump is all business, and he conveyed that to the Asians over there, and the Saudis and even this guy Abbas.

If Nunberg were man of principle he would refuse and go to jail.

I think it is probably a mix of the two opinions. Trump laid down the law to the NKs about the military capabilities and pulled the carriers over there, and the economic hits on the Chinese have them worried to.

CNN hoping such praise leads to some deal that would greatly advantage North Korea knowing that North Korea will never honor its end of the deal anyway.

You are probably right. I don't believe that Trump takes a one-dimensional approach.
