North Korea is reportedly willing to give up its nuclear weapons program if safety can be guaranteed for Kim Jong Un's regime, according to South Korea.

“North Korea has clearly expressed its intention for denuclearization on the Korean peninsula, and if there is no military threat, and North Korea’s regime security is promised, they have clarified that there is no reason to hold nuclear weapons,” South Korean President Moon Jae-in said in a statement, according to Bloomberg.

Kim has no intention of giving up nukes. He’s just stringing the South along

For their part, I suspect the South wouldn’t mind if he shared the nukes with them.

Possiblities:

1. Deception as always

2. They need cash, food, oil

3. Core nuke scientist team crushed by mountain cave in

Oh he11 no.
Leftists will be out there touting the success & reasonableness of communism, showing how such a crushingly poor country, fearful of the point of building nukes, could learn to get along with the world and give up its armament ambitions.
They’ll be sure to get Fat Boy his Nobel Peace Prize, while sneering at warmonger Trump.

Until now they had no reason to believe that they were in any danger as the prior regime, the Obamunists, were no threat. Now they’re not so sure they can get away with misbehavior, and could disappear from the face of the Earth.

One of my favorite Mad Magazine comic panels, and it took 20+ years of internet searching to finally find it:

There are probably many Koreans who have not forgotten the Japs' behavior in the late 30s and WWII, and feel that they owe them an @$$ kicking, maybe a nuclear one.

so, if i see the unification in my lifetime, does the U.S. pull troops out of S.Korea ? If so, does the economy go down the toilet ?

The only way to trust this would be through full reunification. And surprisingly I think they are heading that way. Their sudden joint participation in the olympics meant something.

Thanks. Yes, south.
Your right. Any troop withdrawal would probably be phased so not to kill the economy.
Unification - merging 25 million(North) with 51 million (South) people will strain medical & food supplies.
I’m guessing, since it’s still really a U.N. mission, the U.N. will want to call the shots and supply aid.

Think any of this talk has anything to do with Pres. Trump hammering the NORKs?
I sure would like to see unification happen.
