WASHINGTON — The Trump administration escalated what had been a war of words over California’s immigration agenda, filing a lawsuit late Tuesday that amounted to a pre-emptive strike against the liberal state’s so-called sanctuary laws.
The Justice Department sued California; Gov. Jerry Brown; and the state’s attorney general, Xavier Becerra, over three state laws passed in recent months, saying they make it impossible for federal immigration officials to do their jobs and deport criminals who were born outside of the United States. The Justice Department called the laws unconstitutional and asked a judge to block them.
The lawsuit was the department’s boldest attack yet against California, one of the strongest opponents of the Trump administration’s efforts to curb immigration. It also served as a warning to Democratic lawmakers and elected officials nationwide who have enacted sanctuary policies that provide protections for undocumented immigrants.
“The Department of Justice and the Trump administration are going to fight these unjust, unfair and unconstitutional policies that have been imposed on you,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions planned to say on Wednesday at a law enforcement event in Sacramento, according to prepared remarks. “I believe that we are going to win.”

I think judges and courts are more to blame than anyone else.
In the late 1970s the courts ordered Los Angeles schools to integrate. The kids in violent neighborhoods were bussed to nice neighborhoods and our kids were bussed to the violent neighborhoods. We evacuated the Los Angeles School District leaving houses, apartments and businesses empty. Schools were closing down.
Illegal aliens filled the void. Drive-by shootings became commonplace and the Black and Hispanic gangs were at war with each other. Illegal alien witnesses wouldn’t talk to the police for fear of being deported. The city enacted Special Order 40.
Special Order 40 is a police mandate implemented in 1979 by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Officers shall not initiate police action with the objective of discovering the alien status of a person.
Officers shall not arrest nor book persons for violation of title 8, section 1325 of the United States Immigration code (Illegal Entry).

After Los Angeles became a sanctuary city illegal aliens became bolder and started moving into the rest of California.
Judge Mariana R. Pfaelzer of the 9th Circuit struck down California’s Proposition 187, a law that was overwhelmingly supported by Californians, 59 percent to 41 percent in 1994. The law would have denied illegals from using free healthcare, public education and social services.
Pfaelzer is thankfully dead. She died in 2015.

We have 3 equal branches of government, the Legislative Branch, A Judicial Branch, and the Executive Branch.
The President occasionally creates an Executive Order.
Laws made by the Legislative Branch involve a great number of people voting and then the law has to be signed by the President.
The Judicial Branch should not be making law, although they have. It was our Supreme Court that made carbon dioxide a greenhouse gas. They changed the definition of a word to allow Obamacare to stay a law instead of having congress rewrite the law and take another vote. They are the ones that overrode state laws that banned gay marriage. They should be reminded what their position is in our country by congress and the senate.
But then we have 700 federal judges and many of them are activist judges appointed by extremists like Obama. There is no way a ten year old could have misconstrued this law dealing with the refugees:

(e) Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

I have seen where President Trump is dissatisfied with these 700 federal judges. He is appointing conservative judges but that doesn’t do a damn thing if it only takes one individual judge to create law or misinterpret it.
We have to give credit where credit is due. President Trump is on a mission to make sure anyone that makes law is answerable to the citizens.

I have to agree with you, though I admit...years and years of letting them get away with this kind of thing has lowered my expectations to a ridiculous point where I am gratified they are suing.
Should have marched in, day one, the first time this crap became publicly known (they have likely been doing it for years, but became emboldened by the Obama/Holder Justice lawlessness) but...they didn’t.

They allowed those Leftist scumbags to think they could do anything they liked with immigration at the state/city/town level.
Screw suit. The gov did not sue Little Rock or Alabama or even South Carolina in 1861. I want the army in there to arrest brown and the entire legislature.
