As Canada becomes less culturally homogeneous, expect to see this continue to rise. Gun ownership in Canada is the highest in the Middle Western provinces, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta, they also have the lowest rates of crime and the most ethnically homogeneous. There is something to the borders, language, culture argument.
Maybe Open Borders aren't such a good idea after all, eh?
We have the asian gang problems of California, coupled with the Jamaicans (who have always been the most violent immigrant community in Canada), and some new players such as the Somalians, Russians, and Central America thugs. The big cities of Toronto and Vancouver don’t - yet - have ghettos similar to large American cities, but there are disturbing signs in some of the ares where there is a concentration of public housing.
Overall, gun deaths have decreased in Canada except for the big centers like Toronto Montreal and Vancouver. It is a local issue but gets a national stage because there are more people in LA and NYC then there are in the whole country of Canada.
I know some smug Canadian’s. They don’t hesitate to trash the USA. It’s the “we have universal health care” and “we have such lower gun crime”, jumping to the conclusion that they’re such a superior society. They’re good people but it drives me nuts.
Must be nice to live under the protection of the USA and use the money you’d otherwise need to spend on national defense on social programs, along with USA citizens subsidizing big pharma for them.
The liberals will push for more immigration as the natives have fewer babies. Due to them being “so enlightened” they won’t distinguish between cultures and what ethics systems they believe in. Crime rates will only go in one direction, up.
They have no right to a firearm. They can go through a process and attain a license (a privilege that can be taken away at any time). Even then, unless you follow strict rules of ownership you’ll go to jail.

By the way, from now on I am referring to semi-auto firearms, like a typical rifle before OR after a Bumpfire stock is installed, as a single-shot rifle, since one single trigger pull = one single shot. FULL autos would be multi-shot. Beat’em at their word games!
