U.S. Steel Brings Back Jobs Because of Trump Tariffs
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | March 7, 2018 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: Looky here. “U.S. Steel to Call Back 500 Employees to Illinois Plant After Trump Announces Tariffs on Foreign Steel.” Now, I kept hearing that the U.S. steel industry was dying, that it was over, that we couldn’t bring it back, much like Obama told us during his presidency of the U.S. economy in general. And yet look at what all is happening. Everything Obama talked about regarding the economy is now rendered null and void. He was dead wrong about it, even though he was trying to make it happen. He was trying to make decline and stagnation a reality, for whatever perverted reasons.

And all it has taken is the election of Donald Trump, somebody from the outside who has a lofty, beloved view of America and its greatness to once again reignite all of the engines that create economic growth. Now, I know a lot of people have a theoretical, philosophical and ideological opposition to tariffs. I, myself, over the course of my stunning broadcast career have gone up and down on tariffs. I’ve mostly been opposed to them.

But the news is the news. U.S. Steel announced yesterday that they’re gonna call back 500 employees at their Granite City, Illinois, plant after Trump announced that the U.S. would impose tariffs. Now, I’m sure people are gonna say, “They’re just doing this for show. They don’t need those workers. They’re just doing this to help Trump get this thing done.” Maybe. But they’re still bringing ’em back

Meanwhile, CNN is blubbering about Cohn going back to Wall Street supposedly because of the tariff.

500 jobs matter more then one.

Regardless either Democrats or Republicans these unemployed Americans were probably on the unemployment line looking for jobs ..how awesome it must have felt picking up the phone and at the end of the line it's your boss calling you back to your old job! My son was unemployed almost for a year submitting resumes left and right UNTIL he finally got offered a job and let me tell you when you get that call there's nothing like it!! Brings tears to my eyes! THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP!! GOD BLESS YOU!🇺🇸

What specialized steel is made there ? Because this looks like that type of steel will be on Trump’s hit list along with some plants in PA . USS wouldn’t do this if they weren’t in the know.

The people who lose jobs due to the higher price of steel are not as visible but are just as real. You make something more expensive with a tax and the net effect is negative. If this is a bargaining tool that frees up markets on both sides then it will be worth it.

Hey Obozo, 500 Americans can’t be going back to a steel mill. Of course, as always, you were wrong. Thank, President Trump!

This is horrible, HORRIBLE news for the Democrat Party...
Imagine all of those East St. Louis peeps who will no longer have to vote for a living, and can instead, work for a decent one??

I was at Great Lakes Steel (Ecorse, MI) in 1987. Overwhelmingly pro Ronald Reagan. That included the steelworkers’ union (USW local 88) as well as the construction crafts (all union shop). But then, that was the rank and file.

I keep hearing about the same thing that happened back in the twenties. News Alert: NOTHING IS THE SAME NOW. you cannot compare then and now. And Mr. Smoot was a loser if he didn’t capitalize on the situation.

All I know is this: EU threatens to put tariffs on jeans and bourbon. I say, then we in the USA, will have to produce more jeans and bourbon. I don’t care if it costs more. Last year I tried to find garden gloves made in the USA. Absolutely impossible. I would have paid ten bucks for garden gloves, but I had to buy Chinese at three dollars.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE AMERICANS ABILITY TO ADJUST.

I think the Marines have a slogan that says something like that.

We shall come out the winners. I am not at all pessimistic.
I’ve seen what we can do.

U. S. Steel's Granite City Works produces cold-rolled, hot-rolled and coated sheet steel. Annual capacity is 2.8 million tons.
