Denuclearize the peninsula and US troops leave as well. A win-win for everybody.

I dont think we will ever be able to leave the peninsula completely
North Korea is the elephant in the room but not the only security concern in WestPac for us or for our allies

North and South Korea only have a cease fire in place.
North and South Korea have to go into a FULL treaty with penalties and full withdrawal from the border.

Don’t be a fool. It’s been NK strategy for 50 years to remove the US from protecting SK. They developed their nukes and ICBMs as a deterrent to US defense of SK. If the US leaves the Norks will suddenly ‘find’ some of their misplaced nukes and extort SK and deter the West. They never keep their word. They’re a terrorist regime. That’s what they do. I’d sooner trust ISIS than NK.

Kim would take that deal in a second and it would be a huge win (for them) and loss (for us). Keep in mind, even before they started this nuclear program in the 90's we had already been there 45 years and there's a reason. Because at the end of hostilities, there was only a cease fire, no peace was declared. They could still be very threatening to our allies in South Korea even without nuclear weapons.
The only way our military leave the peninsula would be when the Korean peninsula is united under a free government run by the people. Only then would we no longer be needed there.
