Don't politicize the Parrot.

That's the sentiment of some on social media who are upset the Pirate Parrot appeared along with team President Frank Coonelly at the Republican Committee of Allegheny County's annual Spirit of Lincoln Dinner on Thursday night. Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Donald Trump, headlined the event in Green Tree, which drew more than 500 people.

Before it started, Washington Post reporter James Hohmann posted an image to Twitter of the Pirate Parrot standing in a hallway outside a ballroom at Green Tree's DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. The Parrot was giving a thumbs-up.

The Parrot gets hired to go to a GOP dinner to entertain guests about baseball and all this whining breaks loose.

Meanwhile, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin hosts a fundraising dinner for Hillary Clinton, purely political, and there are crickets . . .

Yes, yes. Sports teams novelty mascots should be like judges... they should stay out of politics lest their impartiality in operating the hot dog gun be questioned. Honestly, no truer words were every spoken: “Liberalism is a mental disease.”

Whatever it is it’s okay if a Democrat does it.

Cause politicizing sports is ONLY acceptable when the Left does it.

The Pirate Parrot appears at national conventions when they come to town (one of which I attended), big parties, etc. It was never a big deal before now.

For trading away McCutchen, the Pirates can KMA .. they should be back in the cellar momentarily.

Look on the bright side. Scalpers will be selling tickets outside PNC Park for about $5 each. The minor league team will still beat their major league opponent about 40% of the time.

Every once in a while the business side needs to find a soul and sacrifice a little for the sake of the game and tradition.
But I won’t need reminded to not hold my breath.

That Cutch kid was as much a Burg fixture as Mazeroski, et al.
It’s just sad, and yet one more thing to repel me from pro sports.

Hope you’re right about the minors kickin’ their bottom-lined asses !

Big 10-4 on Cutch. My wife made me buy her a Neil Walker jersey (the inexpensive cotton variety); got trade a year later. Last year, she made me buy her a McCutcheon jersey. Now I tell her, don't even think about asking me for a Josh Harrison or Josh Bell jersey.

Actually, I was predicting the minor league Pirates would still win about 40% of their games.
