In two ways, this is worse than Massachusetts. Here in MA there is no waiting period, and at 18 you can buy non-semiautomatic rifles and shotguns. In one swoop a GOP legislature and governor put in place restrictions we don't contend with in one of the most tyrannical leftist states in the country.

How can 18,19,20 year old Floridians hunt, going forward? I cannot believe they didn't at least carve out an exception for bolt and lever guns, at least. This is insanity.

What about a young military wife And her children who is left alone while her husband is away on duty.

Sorry, lady, you can’t defend yourself.

What the NRA should be urging is exposing the policy mess that Parkside is and was that permitted those killing to occur

SHAME ON THOSE AR 15’S
FOR WHAT HAPPENED AT THE PARKSIDE SCHOOL

BLAME GUNS
NOT
PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT POLICIES FAILURES THEY
MUST BE HIDDEN

The inability to counter this perverted (they call progressive) agenda created by the democratic party ( in name only) has its goose stepping adherents in the media left make it up as guns and the NRA garbage through their swill mills. When it should be contested by GOP state and federal legislators who should be demanding investigative hearings exposing policy failures

DON’T MENTION THIS
Besides examining the conduct ( cops told not to enter other dept called and does those cops disciplined because they did) and arrangements of the Broward County Sheriff’s Dept made with this school district performance failures due to policy. A dramatic reduction in disciplinary incidents at Parkside were reported after the selection of Obama’s Chicago friend as school superintendent occurred which was publicly acclaimed.

Because that school district was receiving large grant money from Obama’s Attorney General because of those results. That many critics claimed encouraged criminal activity. Which should require Trump Administration US Attorney General beside find out why when the FBI knew that Cruz who should not been able to purchase weapons did. And review these grant programs instituted by the previous Obama administration.

Sources for the formulation of this report come from postings from newspaper and television stations placed in the news aggregation web site Free Republic by volunteers during the period of Feb 14th to the 25th .

The pharma “magic bullet “ mental angle is gonna be hushed up as much as possible, as it has been in the other past incidents from Lee Harvey Oswald (1963)(era of Thorazine antipsychotic and CIA’s secret experimentation with LSD) to the Texas Tower Charles Whitman (1966, another mentally deranged Marine sniper, mental problems, amphetamine abuse), to Anthony Barbaro (Olean NY high school, 1974, no medication mentioned, but Prozac introduction era, death by suicide hanging), to Columbine (1999, SSRIs involved, psychoactive drugs now widespread), to James Holmes (2012, mental problems, genetic psychotic illness, Vicodin, otheres?), to Adam Lanza (2012, some experience with psychiatric help and drugs but refused, perhaps a copycat anomaly re drugs, perhaps not), to Stephen Paddock (2017, anti-anxiety diazepam benzodiazepine in blood at death), to Nicholas Cruz (2018, drugs ???, many antisocial behavior incidents, not effectively treated), so what is the future going to be? In this, several other less newsworthy shootings not mentioned.

(13) A person younger than 21 years of age may not purchase a firearm. The sale or transfer of a firearm to a person younger than 21 years of age may not be made or facilitated by a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer. A person who violates this subsection commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083,

A giant loop hole provided by the NRA. Private transfers(sales) are still legal.

MA is a joke compared to Florida when it comes to guns. Even now possession and private sales to 18 year olds is still legal here.

It was until yesterday. Now it has more in common with MA than a free state. What good is being “allowed” to possess something you can’t buy? That said, I didn’t realize private sales were still permitted. At least young Floridians still have some options.

If he removes the sheriff, he needs to remove a whole bunch of people who signed the “no arrest” agreement - and the NAACP, being one signatory, won’t take that well.

We don’t ask the police here if its ok to buy a gun like MA. We don’t register our guns with the police. Our CWP is shall issue and provided by the Florida Department of Agriculure not the police. We don’t need any permit from the police to simply own and transport a gun. MA is a police state compared to here.

“A giant loop hole provided by the NRA. Private transfers(sales) are still legal.”

I assumed as much, but it was just an assumption. Thanks for the details.

If you are not old enough (ie,... responsible enough) to purchase a gun, you are clearly not old enough to vote.

I agree with your points...knee jerk reaction politics are the most dangerous when it comes to matters as important as firearms. You pointed out aspects that I hadn’t considered . Thank you.

“... under Federal law anyone under 21 cannot possess a handgun ...”
-
That is just not true.
Federal law prohibits a licensed firearm dealer from
selling a handgun to anyone under the age of 21.
Federal law does NOT prohibit an 18 year old from owning a handgun.

To quote the great Gipper:

"It's not that Hardastarboard is stupid; it's just that he knows so much that isn't true" LOL!!

I happily stand corrected. I conflated the laws of the Nazi @$$ state I live in with Federal law.

Oh I don’t deny MA is worse. But Florida just took a massive step in the wrong direction, against the trend most states have been following in recent years. I guess at this point I shouldn’t be but I’m shocked that it was Republicans who served up this crap sandwich.
