Republicans the party of war? Not so much...
My withered brain | 10 March 2018 | Magnatron

Posted on 03/10/2018 8:19:58 AM PST by Magnatron

The Democrat party is and has been the most evil and corrupt party in American history, using our government to bend and oppress the will of the people. From its support of slavery, to the Ku Klux Klan, to Tammany Hall, to its fight against civil rights, to its continued oppression of people of color through meager government handouts, to it’s bloody war dead, through its most recent collaboration with Russia and the corruption of our intelligence agencies to attempt to overthrow our government.

Wait, Democrats the war party??? I thought Republicans were! No, just like everything else, the left loves to transfer their evil to the Republican party (the Southern Strategy anyone?). If you don't believe me, here's the proof for your own eyes. Show this to the next lefty who tells you that the Republicans are the party of war:

And that doesn’t include Obama bombing the snot out of Libya, attempting a government overthrow in Egypt, or assisting Syrian rebels.

Interesting. But what does this really indicate?

For example, we entered World War II after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I think we would have entered the war then, if Wendell Willkie had defeated FDR in the 1940 election. I wouldn’t think our entry into that war, showed a tendency of a Democrat to enter a war.

Wilkie was a Roosevelt plant who insured that even if the GOP won in 1940, that Roosevelt’s policies would still be carried out.

If we had had a real republican in the ‘30’s we might have stayed the hell out of the Asian conflict and not embargoed Japan provoking them to attack.

But then I am admittedly as non-interventionist as it is possible to be.

I tried to watch Ken Burn’s series on the War in Vietnam but I only lasted about three espisodes, up to the point when he clearly was jumping through hoops and rewriting history in an effort to reahibilitate the image of Ho Chi Minh. Up until that point I thought the facts had been being presented pretty even-handedly. Particularly the recordings he played of telephone conversations had by JFK and LBJ when each was POTUS. Both men admitted, in essence, that they should have been reducing troop levels in southeast Asia and preparing to disengage from the conflict, but both indicated they weren’t willing to suffer the consequences of those acts at the ballot box.

It was a confession to letting their lust for power dictate the strategy in Vietnam, a willingness to trade lives of American servicemen for votes.

Interesting. But what does this really indicate?

This isn’t to indicate that there’s not righteous reasons to go to war, but rather the moniker the left places on the right as warmongers is a fallacy when the evidence is examined...

...or course evidence doesn’t matter to the left.

For your consideration only, would you add a democRAT to the Afghanistan conflict seeing O increased forces there? I am also not sure if you should have a republican registered for the Vietnam war too but you did make a note about how Nixon ended it.

I think I understand your reasoning behind why you do not have a Republican starting the civil war.

Having said all that, it was an interesting chart.

Until you consider that FDR manipulated the situation in order to get us into that war.

to its continued oppression of people of color through meager government handouts...

“These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference."

“I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” ~ Lyndon B. Johnson

Things have gotten muddier since Bob Dole talked about "Democrat Wars."

The Bushes got us into some "wars of choice" that we might have avoided.

Marquesas Expedition, First Sumatran Expedition, Second Sumatran Expedition. I have never heard of these.

There was also a Korean Expedition in 1871 and a Paraguayan Expedition in 1858, that I only learned of recently.

And two Fiji expeditions I just found out about now. Not to mention countless Indian wars.
