It is no longer a conspiracy theory spawned by deplorable bitter clingers, but a creeping reality spawned by shootings law enforcement could have prevented but didn't. The Illinois House has passed legislation requiring 18- to 20-year-olds to give up certain legally purchased and legally owned firearms:
A bill requiring 18-20 year olds to hand over or transfer ownership of heretofore legally possessed "assault weapons" is gaining sponsors in the Illinois Senate after passing the House last month.
The bill, HB 1465, was sponsored in the House by Rep. Michelle Mussman (D-Schaumburg) and passed by a vote of 64-51 on February 28.

Sounds like a ex post facto law. Not that such a detail would deter the Illinois legislature or law enforcement...
I’m sure young gang members around Chicago will be the first to turn in their guns.
I hate being this cynical but this may be good, because it will push even more people (including democrats who support gun rights) to the right side. I’m convinced that the only way to overcome the Chicago Democrat machine control of the state of IL is by gradually shifting the balance to the right, and every harebrained nutty liberal nanny-state crapola law or idea they have actually helps do that. Unfortunately it takes forever...
Guns are perfectly legal in Chicago. How else could there be so many guns and gun related crime in one area if they werent legal and readily available to all?

They start with a few. Only a few, everyone thinks.
By passing a law, they declare innocent people guilty, and effectively create criminals. They can then say that they are fighting crime by arresting criminals.
Their intention is to take guns from non-violent people and leave them in the hands of violent criminals.
I'm sure that all 18- to 20-year-olds who bought their firearms through illegal channels or stole them will now go ahead and give up their firearms as well, just out of solidarity and respect for the law.

do people in Illinois have to get a permit from the state before they can even buy a gun? believe you have to in Maryland, the Freak State.
bet the compliance is around 10% like every other place this has been tried.
So, I guess we can expect a plunge in the murder rate huh(sarc)
