Even with this convention debacle, they are the odds-on favourite. Wynne, the current premier, is approximately as popular as Chris Cristie, but with the ethical reputation of one of New Jersey’s Senators. The previous P.C. leader had been elected by running a truly conservative campaign, and then, in putting together a platform and running the party, betrayed his base entirely. When he resigned as the result of a sex scandal about six weeks ago, the party went up ten points in the poll.

The P.C.s are about the most inept party there is for campaigning, but I think that even they will have a very hard time snatching defeat out of the mouth of victory on this one.
