Donald Trump just Saved the U.S. 5G Industry from China
Gordon Chang | John Batchelor Show

Posted on 03/12/2018 6:53:09 PM PDT by muleskinner

Donald Trump, in only the 4th time in 70 years, disallowed the merger of Broadcom and QUALCOMM. Broadcom is the 5G leader out of Singapore with ties to Huawei, the giant Chinese electronics conglomerate that's also heavily tied to the PLA. The merger would have resulted in the dismantling of Qualcomm, with Broadcom and Huawei taking any advanced 5G technology and leaving the rest for scraps.

This action by Donald may not be his most famous act, but may be one of his most important. I'm sure you techies out there can appreciate the enormity of what played out today and can explain it better than I.

It is a good thing. Most of our technology and infrastructure companies have already been sold to other countries.

Any other sources for this? I don’t believe it. I work for Broadcom and it is a spin off from HP. The only reason Broadcom was in Singapore is because they gave us 10 years almost tax free. Now the plan is to move the main office back to USA in something like 3 weeks. If true, stock is going to take a dive tomorrow, just in time for RSU releases.

And I DO believe the United States is HEAVILY infiltrated with Chinese 'chain immigrants' and other visa holders who are ACTIVELY SPYING for China.

This is a SERIOUS threat few are aware of or even talking about.

Every month or so, another Chinese college student or industry hire turns out to be a spy.

Mother China calls them home...

“The merger would have resulted in the dismantling of Qualcomm, with Broadcom and Huawei taking any advanced 5G technology and leaving the rest for scraps.”

Worse, it could have resulted the implementation of spy code in every one of those chips, just like Huawei.

And that’s why Huawei cannot be purchased by ANY US Government agency, and the Feds issued a “do not buy” admonition to every local agency and corporate America.

This was a good block.

“Every month or so, another Chinese college student or industry hire turns out to be a spy.”

Half of Intel’s development and engineering is in China. And all those facilities are populated by Chinese citizens. And all of those citizens are on the internal Intel network.

The potential good news is that development that may have military application is still stateside and protected by air gaps and firewalls.

Still, worldwide chip development, engineering and manufacturing is GLOBAL and it’s very, very difficult to keep secrets.

If it’s even possible.

But consider: Commercial compute today was considered a major military advantage 5-10 years go.

From fiercewieeless.com cited above:

...
The order represents a largely unprecedented action by a U.S. president to prohibit a proposed financial transaction...

We fortunately have a largely unprecedented President.

Hellary and Obama would have bought stock in the acquisition company and asked for free phones too.
