When a Muslim enters prison, what is done to turn him away from jihad? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. On the contrary, Muslims are given the opportunity to study the Quran and pray with other inmates. And so things like this are going to happen. There needs to be a thoroughgoing overhaul of how Islam is treated in our prison system. But that is not on the horizon.

The prisoner had been serving a 25-year sentence in a terrorism case when he tried to slit the warden’s throat.

In entering a guilty plea Tuesday, Fazliddin Kurbanov admitted using a prison-made knife to attack the warden at the Federal Correctional Institution at Victorville on May 31, 2016.

At the time of the attack, the then-warden — identified only as C.J. — was standing in the dining facility near the serving line. Kurbanov, armed with an approximately 4-inch homemade shank, approached C.J. from behind, wrapped one arm around his neck and tried to slit the warden’s throat, according to a plea agreement.

When the warden raised his hand to protect his throat, Kurbanov slashed the left side of his body from armpit to hip bone. C.J. needed about 80 staples to close the wound, “resulting in a permanent disfiguring scar and sharp pains most likely caused by nerve damage.”

The article brings up a very good point.

prisons are breeding grounds for criminals. If you put in a low priority criminal along with hardened ones, you end up with a new hardened criminal.

People in prison get religion, we know that. Sometimes it is good -- like those who become Christians or Buddhists, but now with Mohammadens making up 40% of prisoners in the UK way about their % in the general population, there needs to be action done about this. I would propose:

• Violent crime criminals kept in separate prisons from non-violent crime criminals (so a jewel thief isn't in the same prison as a violent mugger) and Mohammadens are kept separate from the rest

And so things like this are going to happen. There needs to be a thoroughgoing overhaul of how Islam is treated in our prison system.
