Rubio Introduces Bills to Make Daylight Saving Time Permanent

“Last week, Florida’s legislature overwhelmingly voted for permanent Daylight Saving Time for the State of Florida,” said Rubio. “Reflecting the will of the Sunshine State, I proudly introduce these bills that would approve Florida’s will and, if made nationally, would also ensure Florida is not out of sync with the rest of the nation.”

Er, Marco, afaik Gov. Scott has yet to take action on the bill.

The article states that DST

"Benefits the economy"

"Benefits the agricultural economy"

"Reduces car crashes and car wrecks involving pedestrians"

"Reduces childhood obesity"

bring "Increased physical fitness"

and bring a "Positive impact on wildlife conservation"

Why do they feel the need to make a law on this? Just do it. Damn waste of time and money on “legislation”. They don’t get paid by the page..

Standard time is what we need - things have meaning. Noon has a meaning - Solar Noon is when the sun reaches the meridian, when the sun is at its highest altitude for the day. My watch should equal that, ie, 1200, not 1300.

How people choose to use the available daylight on any given day is up to them, but I think we should stick to how things are properly defined. LOL - guess I’m a conservative, hehe.

I’d rather have standard time - I actually like the winter nights when it gets dark early.

Wow! These legislators really work hard. Worth all the millions they’ll come out of it with.

What a crock of shi’ite!

Doesn’t work. There was a time when every town had a clock set to the Solar Noon. Every clock was different. A town 10 miles east or west experience solar noon at a different instant. That’s why we have time zones where all the clocks in a region are on the same time regardless of solar noon.
