Trump's Personal Lawyer Calls for an End to Russia Probe After McCabe Firing

President Donald J. Trump's personal attorney, John Dowd, called for an end to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into alleged collusion and interference between Russian operatives and the Trump campaign in the 2016 presidential election.

“I pray that Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation manufactured by McCabe’s boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier,” Dowd said in a statement given to Fox News. “Just end it on the merits in light of recent revelations."

Dowd's comments come just hours after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe has been fired.

As Matt noted, President Trump tweeted shortly after the late night firing that it was "great day for democracy."

Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI - A great day for Democracy. Sanctimonious James Comey was his boss and made McCabe look like a choirboy. He knew all about the lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of the FBI!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 17, 2018

McCabe responded to the firing by saying, "This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally," McCabe said. "It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day. Their persistence in this campaign only highlights the importance of the Special Counsel’s work."

For now, it is unclear what the next steps will for the Trump White House.

Sometimes I think DJT ought not comment via Twitter as it sparks more controversy and fake stories.

Rosenstein is a big part of the problem. No way is he going to fire Mueller.

Rosenstein’s wife is a lawyer that has represented Muledog, Hillery, and Obama numerous times.

Well if we had an honest press corps instead of a bunch of paid whores then he would not have to tweet to us. Personally I like the fact I don’t get his words through a dishonest filter.

Because she is a government lawyer who does the jobs assigned to her. She currently works for the National Institutes of Health.

AG Sessions must get rid of Rob Rosenstein who is part and parcel to the crooked cabal....put some stable journeyman lawyer in his place...I am sure there a few of such good people left in that Dept. Rosenstein is as dirty as McCabe...fire him now!

Dear Heavenly Father, You own everything including everyone’s next breath, You are in control of all. Please, we pray, clean the slate of corruption and malfeasance so that the United States of America can flourish as the land of the free, home of the brave, honoring You in all things. In Jesus Name, Amen

Finally some teeth with the DOJ. The Clinton house of cards will fall in slow motion and this guy is pivotal. Why pivotal? Because it sends the signal that the corrupt upper brass are not untouchable as they thought they were. And the shrill voice of Clapper and Brennan blaming Trump shows their fear of being exposed and prosecuted. In the end, this could ultimately reach the Obama and Hillary. The wheel of justice grinds slow and it will grind exceedingly fine.

He's directing the medias conversation via his twitter comments.

I think Mueller wants to drag it to the November elections. There is no other motive.

Calling for the President's Corporate records is out of line since it is the same thing as calling for ALL his IRS records.

Trump filed the required disclosures with the government as required. Tell Mueller to read it.

Finally someone of importance in gov is held accountable for their lying and corruption.

It’s a great day for law and order.

Would McCabe be fired if Hillary was President? I rest my case.

It was Sessions who asked the folks at his office to look into the McCabe matter. It didn't happen by itself.

McCabe and Comey were their own little brotherhood. How’d that work out Mr. McCabe?

I’m sure a lot of people including Comey are quite shaken by the news McCabe was canned.
