My cousin is a retired State Police Captain from CA.
Once in WA, he and my dad and myself went tot he Elks lodge and tied one on. We were not marginal, we were drunk.
Dad and I said we should get a cab even though it was 11 miles home and expensive. Cousin would not have anything to do with that and insisted he would drive.
Sure enough we go pulled over by the County Sheriff on the state hiway 4 miles from home at about 0230.
When asked for his license, cousin handed the young sheriff his badge.
I was surprised at the sincerity of the apologies and the offer of an escort home.
And that’s the 100% truth.
This lady must have pissed somebody off.
perhaps she had been let off prior with warning not to repeat
...This lady must have pissed somebody off.

19 years service...less than a year before pension eligibility. She must have wanted to know what McCabe felt like coming so close.
There’s a bit of a difference between driving home after having a bit too much to drink and drunk driving around town backwards while honking your horn.
Immediate termination does not seem to be the normal approach that PDs take.
