David Goldman: China ‘Graduating Twice as Many Doctorates in STEM Fields than We Are’
Breitbart ^ | March 19, 2018 | Robert Kraychik

Posted on 03/20/2018 5:30:55 AM PDT by C19fan

David P. Goldman, economist, author, and Asia Times columnist whose pen name is “Spengler,” talked to Breitbart News Tonight co-hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak Thursday, warning of threats to America’s global position via China’s ascendance in science and technology. Goldman described China’s One Belt One Road project as placing the one-party state at the center of an increasingly prosperous economic region that is becoming more unified through digital and physical means. China’s increasing centrality to emerging Asian economies, he continued, may facilitate its rise to global economic preeminence.

And they can STAY IN CHINA. And I bet we’d graduate more if we limited those seats in US universities to US students. Can’t graduate more when the seats are not open to US citizens.

Problem is that current laws benefits immigrants in STEM fields over US grads.

Yeah, but China will significantly lag us in basket weaving.

Well, China has almost 4 times the population of the U.S.

And thanks to our “universities” we have totally bastardized the word “studies”, as those marshmallow jokes of curricula have nothing to do with anything related to intellectual pursuits whatsoever.

I would say, “yeah, but their work is crap and I know because I’ve seen it first hand”, except that they and their crap work are what American business prefers. That might be the main reason nobody can quite keep the hackers out. (The other main reason might very well be that backdoors are being put in place on purpose.)

And, the U.S. issues more PhDs in “Social Justice Studies” than does China - so we’ve clearly got them beaten on that front...

I blame H-1B. Our students aren’t stupid. They know that the wages of STEM graduates are artificially low. Why go through all of that? STEM degrees are not easy to get and it isn’t a big party to get one.

China population 1.416e9

US population 3.26e8

Ratio China pop/US pop = 4.34

China's population is 4 times higher than the US. It would be surprising if they didn't have more science grads. This is kind of like the statistic that 40% of all work absences occur on Monday or Friday.

At least basket weaving is a useful skill. We're just turning out gender studies majors and the like.

You get what you reward. Would you rather study hard and get a STEM degree, so you can watch your job get offshored and go to work at Walmart, or would you rather take something easier, party hard, and get an MBA, so you can offshore the jobs of STEM grads who worked hard?

There are consequences for the way American companies treat American workers.

“40% of all work absences occur on Monday or Friday”

YOU MEAN 2/5 = 40%

Math is hard.
