In a lengthy letter to the inspector general of the Department of Justice (DOJ), two key senators demanded answers on whether anti-Trump dossier author Christopher Steele was ever paid by the Russian government or other Russian sources. The letter from Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) asked Michael E. Horowitz, the DOJ inspector general, for answers to 31 sets of detailed questions related to DOJs handling of various Russia-related probes in 2016 and 2017.
What connections are there between Mr. Steele and the Russian government or Russian intelligence community? the senators asked. Has Mr. Steele ever been paid directly or indirectly by the Russian government, Russian intelligence community, or other Russian sources?
The letter to DOJ from Graham and Grassley, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, appears to be the first formal demand of the DOJ inspector general to disclose whether the author of a dossier that alleged nefarious connections between Donald Trump and the Russians was himself a tool of the Russian government, its intelligence community, or its oligarch allies.

A copy of the letter is at the link.
Sounds like a question to which Sen. Grassley already knows the answer...
Hillary Clinton paid him using one of her shadow supporters.
Everyone knows this except GOP Senators.
Linda is still trying to save his BF by trying to slow walk the investigation in the wrong direction.
McConnel, Ryan, McCain, Flake and more are involved.
He usually does...
Btw, has anyone referred Rosenstein to the IG yet? He violated procedures—if not the law—when he appointed Mueller, without stating a specific alleged crime.
Ain’t that right up the IG’s alley?
What I want to know is whether the FBI fed Steele Carter Pages name and Michael Cohens name befor he wrote his report. I question whether Steele actually conversed with Russians. He might have just made it all up. But if so then athe FBI must have told him about their suspicions concerning Page and Cohen. Otherwise he would not have known even that they existed.
Jeff Sessions has been AG for 1 year, 1 month, 11 days.
OIG Rosenstein inquiries have not so far been leaked if they are underway.
Note that OIG routinely investigates all DOJ operations like the internal auditors in any big company.
From the article: “In February, Grassley sent a letter to Paul Hauser, an attorney for Deripaska, asking whether Hauser was aware of any business or financial relationships between Mr. Steele and Russian government officials, Russian oligarchs, or Russian businesses. Grassleys office did not respond when asked by The Federalist if Hauser had replied to this inquiry.”
That sure sounds like you are right. So if Horowitz has evidence of it, it means FBI personnel knew it when using Steele as their star witness in the FISA applications.
And he already wrote a sternly worded letter to California and fired a guy after everyone else told him to. What more do you want?
Is it possible for an ordinary citizen to refer something like this to the IG?
They let Fusion gps datamine the NSA database.
These kind of government offices usually have a process for handling tips from the public.
Any REAL tip could be passed through a friendly Congressman’s office. Non-frivolous info could also go through normal contact means:
I’m wondering if there is anybody who didn’t pay this guy!?
What a racket he had going!
1 year, 11 months, and 10 days too long.
The DOJ is no longer a credible source. Time for a special prosecutor.
