First of all, the president has that Constitutional authority, and secondly, you need an actual crime to impeach the president. What are these people, idiots?

You do not need an actual crime to impeach the President. Andrew Johnson was impeached for firing an official he was quite within his prerogative to fire as he had appointed him. No “actual crime” was alleged or shown. Impeachment is dependent upon having enough votes to impeach, nothing other. It is deemed prudent to have some “reasons” for impeachment that the vooters could possibly accept as legitimate.
