They had me down as "very conservative" which is right on the money and downright creepy because I don't post about politics on Facebook.

My wife, who is very conservative, is pegged as "Very Liberal" which is hilarious. She thinks it might be because she is friends with a lot of very liberal Californians where we live and her co-workers are very liberal, too.

My leaning is not difficult for anyone of limited skills to discern. Republican Central Committee membership might reveal itself from time to time. Then there is my attendance at the nominating convention as a Trump-pledged alternate delegate. I also from time to time post or comment on cat videos.

I checked. They don’t even have a “politics” entry for me. You know why?
Because I’m on Facebook SOLELY because of an art interest that I discuss and participate in. Not politics.
For a year and a half I hit the “don’t show me posts like this” next to every single political post popping up from my FB friends. After awhile, they stopped showing them.
I have also NEVER posted anything political in 3 years (before then I wasn’t on FB).
So I’m a cipher to old Zuck. And - I LIKE it that way!!!
I’m tagged as a Liberal, haven’t really done much to hide my affiliation on facebook or the web in general other than I don’t open my mouth to blurt things out without thinking as much as the average lib.

That’s probably why they had you marked as very conservative. The liberals feel free to spew their politics. Some conservatives share politics, but many self-censor.

They certainly know where I live. Alexa ratted me out.
We don’t have the “R” and “D” problem here in Silicon Valley any more. All the “R”s are either underground or fired. No need for an office manager to keep the tally.
If you/others think its only facebook that knows this stuff, you’d be quite surprised. Just about every major retailer knows. PS sounds like your wife is more liberal than she lets you know.
Odd, because my wife and I are like that, too (except we haven’t clicked the “don’t show me posts like this”). We are apolitical on FB. How could they label me “conservative” because I like landscape and bird photography? They got me write, but 180 degrees off on my wife. I guess it all balances out.
