I'd say Foster has one of the best side gigs on the planet.

...Foster saved all seven shots he faced in a 6-2 win. Then how did they get '2'?...................

If he’s an emergency back-up who they pay to be at the rink nightly, he’s definitely taking shots from the players during practice on a regular basis.
I bet he also plays in a high level amateur hockey league. I know a lot of ex-college hockey guys who do. Certainly not the NHL, but its not like he hasn’t played in 12 years

He had a great quote at the end of the article: I think Im just hitting my prime, Foster told the Chicago Sun-Times. The initial shock happened when I had to dress. And then I think you just kind of black out after that.”

What a cool story. That guy is probably on top of the world today.

Another interesting angle to this story ...
When the emergency backup sits in the press box he's probably paid some nominal per diem rate.
If the starting goalie gets injured and he has to dress as the emergency backup (the third goalie), he signs a non-standard NHL contract. Basically, he just gets dressed and sits on the bench in case the backup goalie gets hurt, too. I don't think he gets paid anything extra to do this.
If he actually goes in and PLAYS, he might have to be compensated under the terms of the agreement between the NHL and its players union.

This is one of the best hockey stories ever. And he definitely has the best side gig.
