Charles Barkley slams NCAA, FBI and politics at Final Four conference
KENS-5 CBS Local ^ | March 31, 2018 | by Scott Gleeson

Posted on 04/01/2018 6:20:29 AM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Charles Barkley blasted the FBI’s ongoing investigation into college basketball’s illegal recruiting world Friday at the Final Four, saying the nation’s federal law enforcement agency should be focusing on more important matters in the country.

The FBI went public with an investigation in the fall, indicting several universities’ basketball programs and leading to the dismissal of former Louisville coach Rick Pitino.

“I’m still trying to figure out why the FBI is involved,” Barkley said. “Listen, I went to college in 1981. We cheated back then. We’re cheating now. They’re always cheating. The toothpaste is out of the tube. They said they gave that kid at Arizona (Ayton) $100,000. He was underpaid. There must’ve been closed bidding because I would’ve gave his (expletive) more.

“I didn't realize the FBI needed to be paying attention to college basketball. Maybe if they were paying more attention (to other matters) they wouldn't have screwed up our (presidential election).”

Barkley has previously expressed disdain for the 2016 presidential election and President Donald Trump. On Friday, he said politicians have their priorities seriously mixed up.

“These (political) parties suck. Plain and simple,” Barkley said. “The Democrats have been taking my votes and black people’s votes for granted for 100 years. Republicans do what they do — they’re gonna take care of rich people. We as democrats have to start calling our party out more.

“If you look at neighborhoods, if you look at our schools, they suck. We’re getting left behind. The gap between the rich and the poor is getting wider. We have to start holding our politicians (more) accountable. …These (politicians) are sitting here worrying about Russia and Stormy Daniels. Nobody cares about that.”

He should stick to commenting on basketball, he doesn’t seem to know much about anything else needing his commentary. Particularly history and politics.

Charles doesn’t like the FBI investigating his long time friend from auburn, Chuck Person. Person may be going to jail.

Barkely recently bashed Trump too.

If Barkely wasn’t black, he wouldn’t be on TV. His arrest record would have kept a white person from ever getting such gigs.

Charles, like so many celebrities is confusing fame with social relevance.

This world needs more Charles Barkleys in it.

Even if you disagree with him or even don't know what the hell he's talking about at times, he can still speak enough truth to piss off the right people.

At least he’s right about dems suckering the black vote for 100 years.

I think he’s a closet republican who’s too scared to say it.

I agree with much of what he is saying but he’s just shooting off his mouth more than offering solutions.

I guess there’s a place for that in this world.

On race related stuff, Martin Luther King didn’t like Democrats or Republicans when its all said and done.

There was talk of MLK running for POTUS in 1967 and in April of that year he said.

“I have come to think of my role as one which operates outside the realm of partisan politics...”

The FBI right now needs an approval rating of “0” and anyone helping to get that agency down to a 0 percent approval rating is OK with me.

He said right there that Republicans are for rich people. Then he says “we Democrats.”

IRONY!!! “The Democrats have been taking my votes and black people’s votes for granted for 100 years.

“If you look at neighborhoods, if you look at our schools, they suck. We’re getting left behind. The gap between the rich and the poor is getting wider.

I doubt this idiot even realizes he gave the problem and the answer in his petty tirade.

The idea that some cheating means we should allow all cheating is ludicrous. Of course, there is and has always been cheating. Ditto crime, corruption, lying, whether sports, sex, politics, business, whatever. It would be too costly to police these thing s completely. Not only in terms of the explicit cost of police, but also in terms of the stiffing of innovation. So here’s what we do: we invest enough resources to catch enough of the cheaters, and punish them appropriately, to keep a lid on cheating.

As for individuals who lie, cheat and steal , we hope to eventually catch them. This isn’t exactly the case in terms of college ballplayers, because individual ballplayers are only in college for a few years. Among college ballplayers, individuals can and do get through. But, we hope to periodically catch programs that cheat. As for serial murderers, rapists and child molesters, thieves, corrupt politicians, cheating spouses, fraudulent businesses, they usually are emboldened by getting away with it and continue in their malevolent ways. But, eventually, we do think we get them.

Still, if all blacks thought more like Barkley (as moronic as he sometimes is) Trump would have garnered at least 30% of their vote (instead of 10-15%), and the Democrats would have no chance in general elections.

I read about Charles baggin’ on Trump a couple days ago.

He must have been confronted with some damning evidence he wishes to keep out of the media.

Pretty safe to assume there’s an underaged girl involved somewhere in his NBA past.

Quote from Barkley:
“They said they gave that kid at Arizona (Ayton) $100,000. He was underpaid. There must’ve been closed bidding because I would’ve gave his (expletive) more.”

All that is wrong with college athletics in two sentences. Blatant violation of law. Corruption of value of education for money. Stupidity of college scholarship athletes (doesn’t know how to speak grammatically correct english).
How do you identify a liberal? They only support laws they like and they violate laws they don’t like and don’t expect to be punished when they get caught. Hence, the FBI is wrong, not the illegal recruiters and cheaters who are corrupting our youth.
Barkley shouldn’t even be allowed to comment on basketball. He should be prohibited from working NCAA games for these blatantly inflammatory comments discrediting the NCAA and FBI’s attempt to regulate seriously illegal activity within its athletic programs. Sir Charles is in the protected class called “black athletes”. The NCAA therefore, will not say or do anything that will stir up the social justice warriors who would support Barkley’s statements. Barkely is simply a useful idiot for the “cultural marxists” destroying our republic.
