A Republican candidate for Idaho’s lieutenant governor said women who get an abortion should receive the death penalty if abortion becomes illegal in the state.

State Sen. Bob Nonini, R-Coeur d'Alene, said at a candidate forum hosted by the Christian podcast CrossPolitic that women getting an abortion should be punished.

Moderators asked him if he supported including the death penalty as a possible punishment, and Nonini nodded in response, according to the Associated Press.

Nodded, according to the AP. I’m not convinced.

Let’s hope the primary voters have the good sense to defeat this idiot. If he gets the nomination, the ‘RAT wins the general election.

Poison pill idiot. Ceding ground gained to the opposition it would have never regained, as the public view of abortion has been heading in a much improved direction for a while now.

Say what you will about Rick Santorum, he was always prepared for the inevitable gotcha questions on abortion, life and traditional morality. Any aspiring conservative lol would do well to study his handling of the media in these regards. He never gave the media the sound bites they could take out of context.

Sounds like maybe a setup question. The article implied that if abortion was declared murder, would it be punishable be death due to it being pre-meditated.

That’s not so cut and dry

Ol’ Bobby here needs to read up on a candidate for Senate here in Indiana named Richard Mourdock.

How to lose a 15 point lead with a single stupid statement.

There is no need for banning abortions or jailing those who have abortions.

The EASIEST way to deal with it is to TAKE AWAY GOVERNMENT FUNDING of ABORTION.

Do that, and the ABORTION business will wither on the vine.

Not a poison pill.

On the day that abortion becomes illegal across the United States, Abortion will be Capital Murder of a child.

We prosecute, convict and give the Death Penalty to people convicted of Capital Murder.

Seriously! There should be a video montage shown to every conservative candidate of the damage that poorly-worded responses to gotcha questions cause.

So many candidates that would be competitive get blown away by these unforced errors. Not only do the media deliberately try to inject gotcha questions, they also will sit on edited footage waiting for a candidate to win a nomination before releasing the moment publicly.

You’d think by now that candidates could learn to deflect or turn the question around at the interviewer. Some of the best ways for a politician to gain support is to challenge the premise of a question and put the interviewer on the spot.

Just look what Newt Gingrich did to Juan Williams, John King, or Chris Wallace. They were humiliated publicly when they tried to pull this stuff.

“Death for abortionists. That’s certain.”

The abolitionist always has a willing and eager accomplice.

Exactly.

Many murders are motivated by selfish desperation. A man here recently killed his grandparents. He said it was because he owed drug money and was desperate to get it.

Just because it’s a woman despairing over her situation does not mean that it would be excusable murder.
