Report: Dem. Sen. Joe Manchin Has Been Talking About Switching Parties
Western Journal ^ | April 5,2018 | Nick Givas

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice claims he’s talked to Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin about him switching parties.

President Donald Trump needs Manchin’s vote in the Senate, Justice said Thursday on “Fox & Friends.”

“Joe and I had discussions along those lines,” Justice, a Republican, said.

“I wish Joe was a Republican to tell you the truth,” he said of the West Virginia senator.

“But to just tell it like it is, Joe’s got to do his thing and I’ve surely got to do mine and the president has got to do his. We need Joe’s vote.

“And to be perfectly honest, you know, this nation needs to get behind our president in a great way every day.”

Manchin has regularly displayed conservative talking points and his conservative flare continues to increase as he gets closer to a reelection bid in November.

Manchin went on CNN’s “New Day” in January and said the country needed Trump’s border wall.

He returned on CNN to rebuke House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s immigration rhetoric a few days later.

He also appeared on “Fox & Friends” in January and bashed Democrats for being disrespectful during Trump’s State of the Union address.

“That’s the way I was raised in West Virginia. We have respect. There is civility still yet.“There should be civility in this place,” he said in January.

“That’s disrespectful. Last night was disrespectful.”

Justice, formerly a Democrat, made the switch to the Republican Party after Trump took the state by more than 40 points in 2016.

Justice’s switch was largely ignored by the mainstream media networks.

Doesn’t he do this periodically? It’s part of his schtick...

It looks a lot more opportunistic in his election year. We lost the Obamacare repeal by one vote.

Smart move.Better to be on the same page as the large majority of your constituents than a small minority.

“I wish Joe was a Republican to tell you the truth,” he said of the West Virginia senator.

I wish McConnell and Ryan were Republicans.

Do *you* agree with DJT 100% of the time? I don't.But I certainly agree with him far more often than I disagree with him.

Hell,I didn't even agree with my *mother* 100% of the time.

Does anybody know what will be going on in the West VA Republican primary? Is there a chance that the Republican West VA primary can turn into a disaster like in Mississippi and Alabama? If so maybe Manchin (R) might be OK.

The article fails to mention that before Justice was a democrat he was republican. So mister journalist the WV Guv - Justice did a republican-to-democrat-to-republican rotation. Much more a rotation in Justice’s case then a switch. Manchin must be feeling some re-election negativity.

It won’t help. One of the first things he did as a senator was get embroiled in a gun control fiasco. His daughter runs the company that jacked the price of the epipins sky high. Joe doesn’t have a constituency that would claim him.

Trump won by 40 points so the dem governor became a republican. I’m surprised ALL the Dems didn’t switch.

DemRATs are making a visible and noisy presentation of treating Manchin the way they treat Republicans? Great! Shows the people of West Virginia who they really are.

It’s my understanding that Morrissey (I think the current Secretary of State!) is leading in the GOP primary. I hear he had a good shot at taking out Manchin. Probably the source of Manchin’s angst!

Though better he than Tim Kane, the answer is still NO. There is no trusting the man. He might have small conservative tendencies, but they failed to stop him from voting with the d’rat party (and ‘their leader, BO’B) He should show a little spine before our open arms embrace him. Nothing like playing the field, huh, Joe. Let him take a stance while still a d’rat and see how that pans out. The thought of being ‘homeless’ weighs heavy on those that will lose the roof over their heads sooner or later. Hopefully in the case of a d’rat, let it be sooner please.

Think Freepers. PDJT will need this one vote if Justice Kennedy retires and the Fakata Carnival cast of characters, you know, Collins, Murkowski, and maybe even McCain if he makes it that long, will vote no, especially McCain just to be a Richard cranium. This about another originalist and a game changer fot the next 40 yrs.
