A South Korean court has found former President Park Geun-hye guilty on multiple counts of abuse of power, bribery and coercion and sentenced her to 24 years in prison.

Park's conviction brings to close a corruption scandal which gripped South Korea, upending the country's politics and implicating some of the country's most powerful figures.

"The President abused the power which was given to her by the citizens," the judge said, adding a tough sentence was needed to send a firm message to the country's future leaders. Prosecutors had asked for Park to receive a 30 year sentence.

CNN fails to mention that one of the reasons their country demanded she resign is because they discovered she was involved with satanism.

She was a conservative and was being railroaded—it’s a false corruption trial and now they have an appeaser as president.

Too bad a couple of our former presidents can’t be sentenced to life in prison.

Every other country in the world doesn’t seem to have a problem prosecuting former big time politicians, But these cowardly bastards in the US are breastless.

It was a deep state maneuver so they can get the current appeaser they have as South Korean president.

Wikileaks is the one that released her emails regarding satanism.

BINGO. The real corruption stunner is her arrest and the mini-intra political coup, which knocked her from power -- not the various "crimes" she was accused of.

And although Trump is handling things well, its no secret the current South Korean administration is sympathetic to the North and Kim Jong Un's govt. The liberal party of current President Moon-Jae in tends to be anti-American. As is the S. Korean media, if I am not mistaken...

Things with Kim Jong Un, China, etc...may have shaped up a lot differently by now with Korean conservatives in power.

Not sure what your views are, but President Moon in South Korea is an anti-American leftist.

MNdude, Nancy Reagain consulted with astrologers when life got tough...no grounds for impeachment...let alone this massive 24 year prison sentence for Park Geun-Hye. She is the daughter of one of South Korea’s most important leaders in history! Controversial to be sure, but Park Chung-Hee (I think that’s his name) is credited for putting the country on the map!

Also Park Geun-Hye would have likely been far more cooperative with Trump than the current leftist/pro-North Korean administration running South Korea now.

Meaning consulting or hosting astrologists for counsel is not grounds for impeachment of someone in power...not that Nancy was President, but even doing it on behalf of the President...not a crime.

but soliciting bribes from corp heads (e.g. Samsumg) for favors as President is impeachable in most countries...

BTW the cult her friend’s dad founded is shamanistic not satanistic. Mr. Choi was the next Buddha not the next Lucifer.

Obama comes to mind. But corruption is apparently legal here.

Yes agreed...about bribes...but not 24 year prison sentence. I would imagine most major S. Korean politicaal figures could be accused of something similar. But there was a Mueller-style with-hunt after Park - who is 1) conservative 2) daughter of polarizing leader and 3) a woman.

The system allowed for it to unfold to absurd results.

Not to mention: BOTH Park Geun-Hye's parents were assassinated ...decades ago...so permanent imprisonment is the other alternative.

I wonder if obama will get 24 years because she certainly abused her power.

Damn trans/president.

A great model and precedent for us to apply to our former corrupt Barack O.
