Oh, that is another thing. The media SAYS an offensive term was used but they have NO PROOF. NONE. They assert it based on the testimony of someone else as if that testimony is unimpeachable.

It varies country by country. As Gringos, the most common word we hear is “Maricon” (faggot), or, rarely “Mariposa” (butterfly) in the case of overly effeminate behavior.

Colombians will often use the more humorous “Marchatrás”, which is a contraction of “marcha hacia atrás”, which means “to march backwards”.

Among my Argentine extended family, I seen them use a non-verbal rubbing of the hands together, as if they were saying “I wash my hands of the affair”.
