Senate ready to change the rules to speed up Trump nominees......
Washington Examiner ^ | April 11, 2018 | Susan Ferrechio

Senate Republicans, frustrated by delaying tactics imposed by Democrats on President Trump’s judicial and executive branch nominees, are on the verge of altering the Senate rules in order to speed up the process.

GOP lawmakers told the Washington Examiner Tuesday that momentum is building for a change in the Senate rules that would shorten the time frame allowed for lawmakers to debate each nominee.

One proposal by Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., would reinstate a temporary rules change made by Democrats in 2013 that reduced debate time from 30 hours to eight hours for most executive branch nominations and from 30 hours to two hours for lower judicial branch nominations.

“I think the momentum is growing steadily towards doing that,” Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said after a closed-door GOP meeting Tuesday.

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, said “a time limit” is under consideration in addition to other changes.

I’ll believe it when it actually happens.

Or maybe not even then.

This is a smoke screen, they are running scared. They have set back and watched as obumber’s people used the full surveillance capabilities of the United states to spy on an opposition candidates campaign. The did nothing when potentially embarrassing or highly confidential information was released to the press from this illegal surveillance, or watched as the obviously partisan former head of the fbi testified that he leaked information that would lead to the appointment of a sc. Now they say nothing after that sc has raided the private attorney of POTUS, on an obvious fishing expedition.

How about just do it and immediately push through all of Trump’s pending nominees?

These changes and any others that are “under consideration” would be awesome. Dem’s get a taste of their own medicine, for once. But, there’s alwasy a, But.

But, with people like Lankford and Cornyn supporting such a thing, I’m wondering why they’re so eager, finally.

- some big-money folks back home have had a little, chit chat, with these two and have ordered them to get things moving

- they’re trying to protect themselves

- setting themselves up for their re-election bids to show how much they helped the President

- or Schumer didn’t give either one a ‘reach around’ one night and they’re mad

Sorry. I wasn t trying to be nasty. Often times being real is considered nasty. I don t make the rules. I don t live by the rules. I don t require other people respond to “my” rules. Hope you have a great day.

Heck, it only took them 15 of the first about twenty months of the first half of Trump’s first term to figure this out.

I address it this way because around the end of November the recesses leave very little work time late in th year.

I’ll say it again, I would HATE to be in a foxhole with members of this Congress considering their inability to recognize their duty in the midst of conflict, and take it to the enemy.

You have summed up Republican impotence perfectly. They are useless to the cause of liberty. Buy ammo!
