DeSantis Says He Would’ve Vetoed Gun Bill
The Floridian ^ | April 12 2018 | Daniel Molina

Posted on 04/13/2018 3:56:42 AM PDT by Jed Eckert

The Parkland shooting incited protests calling for gun control that gained medial attention as lawmakers looked for ways in order to respond to the shooting and prevent future shootings from happening.

Ron DeSantis, Florida Governor candidate, is arguing that he would’ve vetoed the controversial gun bill that Governor Rick Scott signed into law. The bill drew protests form the NRA because it raised the purchasing age of a firearm from 18 to 21 and it banned “bump stock” attachments. The bill also drew some opposition from gun control activists because it called for certain school staff to be properly trained and armed in order to combat any school shooting situation that might present itself.

DeSantis commented that it’s “Better to focus on denying firearms to dangerous individuals, which avoids infringing on constitutional rights and is also more likely to be effective.”

He also added that he would’ve told the legislature to send him the parts that focused on enhancing school security and mental health programs. What he disagrees with is the restrictions on guns, which he sees as infringements on the 2nd amendment.

Gun control is a major topic heading into the upcoming midterm elections, and Ron DeSantis considers himself to be a “big Second Amendment guy.” President Donald Trump has endorsed him for Governor.

He's been pretty good in Congress with 2nd Amendment issues unlike Rick Scott who really had no track record with he ran for Governor other than empty promises.

DeSantis should make a good Governor.

As for Scott:

The “Parkland” school board voted down Scott’s permitting teachers carry section. DeSantis should be calling for a thorough look at the policies and conditions which failed to prevent those murders as well the lowering of scholastic standards even though Scott refuses to do so.

Guess DeSantis has never heard of Chicago and how effective their “no guns” law has worked out. We also know how banning the sale of alcohol back in the 30’s worked out, creating the demand for “illegal” booze. Why doesn’t some politician come up with a bill addressing “People Control”?

I am an active Republican in West Central Florida. I got into it with Florida State Senator Wilton Simpson, one of the main stewards of this bill LAST NIGHT. I expressed my severe disappointment with the bill, not because of anything in the bill, and some portions were needed legislation, but because the FLORIDA LEGISLATURE and the GOVERNOR, let the media hysteria drive legislation, instead of holding Broward County Sheriff David Israel ACCOUNTABLE, for the lousy job they did in failing to prevent the tragedy, despite multiple warnings, and despite having armed deputies on the campus during the shooting.

I stated point blank to him “If our Sheriff, Chris Nocco, had been Sheriff of Broward County, this tragedy would have been averted..” Senator Wilton Simpson agreed. But still, he persisted in defending this crisis generated feel good legislation, EVEN ADMITTING THAT ANOTHER TRAGEDY WOULD BE IN THE MAKING BECAUSE OF THE POLITICS OF BROWARD COUNTY.

Adam Putnam, is a John Boehner fetch boy. He, is a RINO, with a southern drawl, just like Bill Nelson is Harry Reid with a southern drawl. I knew it was the BIG MONEY RINOS behind the attacks on DeSantis, just by the tone of the slick ad attacks. These puppet masters with set the table for their fetch boy, even if Adam Putnam is not directing this negative ad assault himself.

OK, it looks like Adam Putnam and (of all people!) Roger Stone are the most likely culprits. Why?

BIG SUGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy paying for the attack ads (on conservative radio of all places!) is Everett Wilkinson, from Palm Beach.

Found this interesting link:
http://www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/buzz/2018/03/31/heres-a-very-sweet-reason-roger-stone-has-it-in-for-ron-desantis/

So Roger Stone, Everett Wilkinson, and some Orlando blogger named Jacob Engels.

This is just one source. Let’s find others. If it is Putnam, with the help of Roger Stone, this needs to get out NOW. The radio adds are running dozens of times per day in Volusia County, and really trashing Ron DeSantis via flat out disinformation. Seriously negative.

I will probably post the whole article on FR.

Yep. I’ve heard those ads here in Jax, too. Big, big money is behind them. I assume it’s some corportists pushing Putnam for governor. Probably set up by Rick Scott.

Good. Keep the the heat on these traitors. Here's a post that might interest you regarding Simpson. Scroll down to the March 13 entry regarding Simpson objecting to being called a traitor.

Are they really "traitors" to the Second Amendment?

CONSERVATIVE TALKIES RESPONDING TO THE MEDIA’S WAR ON THE NRA, GUNS, AND THE 2ND AMENDMENT ONLY AIDS THEM IN CONCEALING THE POLICY FAILURES AS A NATIONAL ISSUE WHICH PERMITTED PARKLAND TO OCCUR
WAS PARKLAND AN IDYLLIC SCHOLASTIC SETTING OR A NIGHTMARE
Only an investigation will either dispel or prove that with those policies enforced. Students had all kinds of disciplinary problems (drugs, thefts fights etc) when attending classses there. Were scholastic standards lowered to fit fed DOJ grants ?
WHERE WAS THE DEMAND FOR FEDERAL AND STATE INVESTIGATIONS ????
It’ was not guns or the NRA It’s policies which had cops standing outside while killing was going on or some nut getting a gun the FBI knew he wasn’t suppose to... Plus a whole raft of other stuff
WAS THE DEMAND FOR STATE AND FED INVESTIGATION ON THE POLICIES WHICH CAUSED THIS NOT CONSIDERED BY FLORIDA POLS BECAUSE THE RESULT WOULD BE LAW SUITS AGAINST THE STATE ???

The State Legislature and governor, did appoint a 15 member panel to investigate the shooting, and make reccomendations - Window dressing. Full employment for political fellow travelers. They had their crisis, and they did not let it go to waste. YOUR FREEDOMS suffered.

Meet Ron DeSantis

Ron DeSantis is the U.S. Representative for Florida’s Sixth District and is a candidate for Governor of Florida. He is endorsed by President Donald Trump, Fox News’ Sean Hannity, and radio host Mark Levin.

While in Congress, he has led efforts to impose term limits on members of Congress, cut taxes, repeal ObamaCare, relocate America’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, assist veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress, prevent American tax dollars from being sent to Iran, combat radical Islamic terrorism, stop illegal immigration and defund sanctuary cities, and conduct oversight over agencies such as the IRS and Department of Justice, including the investigation into Uranium One, the use of the Clinton-funded Steele dossier against Donald Trump, and the failure to prosecute the criminal activity of terrorist group Hezbollah by Eric Holder’s DOJ.

A native Floridian with blue collar roots, Congressman DeSantis worked his way through Yale University, where he graduated with honors and was the captain of the varsity baseball team. He also graduated with honors from Harvard Law School. While at Harvard, he earned a commission in the US Navy as a JAG officer. During his active duty service he supported operations at the terrorist detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and deployed to Iraq as an adviser to a US Navy SEAL commander in support of the SEAL mission in Fallujah, Ramadi and the rest of Al Anbar province.

His military decorations include the bronze star medal for meritorious service and the Iraq campaign medal. He has also served as a federal and military prosecutor.

He is married to Casey DeSantis, an Emmy award winning television host. They have a baby daughter Madison and a son due on April 1.

I am your source. I watch Florida State Public TV from Tallahassee, but more to the point, Wilton Simpson was touting the panel yesterday at our Republican Club meeting.
My retort to Mr Simpson was several, for crying out loud, we have confirmed video of Broward Deputies standing around WHILE THE SHOOTING WAS GOING ON. As to whether they stood down on orders, or on their own volition is immaterial.
Broward has had active shooting training at this school, and this contingency should have been better planned. Also, David Israel appeared on CNN, and EMBARRASSED the entire State of Florida with unbelievably stupid, insensitive remarks to Jake Tapper.
Mr Simpson did not know, that Sheriff Israel provided to mosques, the same WEAPONS active shooter training that HE DENIED TO SCHOOLS. Again, in the face of the KNOWN THREATS, a short coming worthy of dismissal.
