Consider the only amendment ever repealed, pushed by every organized womens groups. And repealed relatively quickly after passing as well. First inkling we made a gorrendous mistake.

There has always been drug use and there always will be. Prohibition didn’t work, did it? For a generation or so, educating people about specific risks of drugs really works. There were decades where a dangerous drug was avoided by all, unto the next gen forgot the info. But humans will always seek ways to pep up, cool down, or tune out.

2. the dishwasher....for those of you that remember family life before the dishwasher, you may agree that the evening ritual of washing dishes was the time when family bonding occurred.....along came the dishwasher and poof! no more need to hang around after eating dinner.

Dishwashing, that's when I learned that a cat could, and would, run right up your back so it could watch the faucet, something it found fascinating!

Now, thanks to the smartphone, there is no longer any need to even talk to your family.

1. the birth control pill....

2. the dishwasher....

I would have placed the television in First Place.

True, the t.v. had already been around in significant numbers since the late-1940s in the U.S., but it didn't really come to dominate (and consequently undermine) home life until the 1960s. It's most-corrosive effect was to supplant parental authority with regards to moral standards and ethics.

The automobile (bedroom on wheels - affordable even for late-teens) also deserves an honorable mention (though of course it wasn't a phenomenon restricted to the 1960s).

Regards,

The sixties were my youth. Class of ‘66, dude. How sixties can you get. So ... take a walk. ( That’s the way we talked, back in the sixties. )

." the birth control pill....suddenly women did not have to think twice about consequences of their decision-making"

ah, the guys suddenly didn't have to be responsible either...

you know what the change that I most hated in the 60's and continues today?....the sarcastic putdowns of everything good...the Church, marriage, the flag, the military, sex, etc...

everything a joke, all the time...

think of the movie Mash....good servicemen and what they do was just one continual joke...ha ha ha...

No, it was television that destroyed the family time together. It also shaped America’s beliefs and moods.

Sex robots could change the dating marketplace in the next few decades and help correct the aberration that third wave feminism created. Once reckless women become obsolete so that less assertive single men won’t resort to providing for them and ceding half their assets, they could learn how to play their proper role to avoid ruination.

Red Diaper Doper Babies rose to power and the bomb throwing bank robbing cop killers of the 60s and 70s became the heads of the Democrat Party, US media, State Department, CIA, and academia.

As a lifelong St Louis Cardinals fan, that ‘68 series was a tough loss...even Bob Gibson wasn’t enough.

"evening ritual of washing dishes"

My sister and I were the "dishwashers" for our large family. With no nagging or prompting we happily did our duty each and every night. As we washed we would sing songs - in harmony no less!

Women want money from men, and women are insecure about being able to get money from men, so women use the government to force men to give them money.

Good article indeed. One thing not mentioned is that near the end of his life, McNamara, admitted that he and Johnson never meant to win in Vietnam but just seek a stalemate. I hope they are both in an uncomfortable place.
