Former First Lady Barbara Bush, 92, decided Sunday to focus on comfort care in the face of her failing health, rather than additional medical treatment.
“Following a recent series of hospitalizations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs. Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment, and instead will focus on comfort care,” read a statement from the office of George H. W. Bush.
Bush has been in an out of the hospital the past year battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and congestive heart failure.
The former first lady has been married to former President George H.W. Bush for 73 years, and is also the mother to former President George W. Bush.
"She is surrounded by a family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving,” the statement read.

They both have been in bad health for the better part of a year now.
She is still strong enough to slap the back of the head of lil Jeb
She never did recover from Jeb making her slog through the snow campaigning for her in February, 2016.

I knew Jeb! was becoming desperate when Barbara was sent out to campaign for him. Nothing wrong with a mother supporting her son, but at her advanced age and poor health, it did not make Jeb look any better. This after Barbara had already stated herself that America didn’t need any more Bushes in the White House.
You ever see a family member go into hospice.
Hillary and Moochelle stand as especially stark contrasts to Mrs. Bush's class and integrity.
My mother has been in hospice for 9 months. Best thing ever for when you’ve had it with trips to the hospital, prescriptions etc. Just do what you want. Any pain and they’ll give you morphine, happy pills etc.

I respect her for making the correct and the courageous choice. I disagree with an awful lot of her politics, but she is the most New England Establishment WASP personality in that family, and this choice confirms it.
Her kids, being gutter politicians, will attempt to raise money and political support off her death. Jeb undoubtedly has a catalogue “Mom always said...” bromides ready to go. Despicable.
