May she rest in peace. Unfortunately, many in the medical/Insurance Business would have suggested some type of procedure that would promise to potentially extend her another six months. She still would have died in 4 days, but they would still have made money off her. Cynical, but I have seen it to many times. I had a friend whose mother was asked to do another knee replacement at 90 years old. She said no. She died six months later anyway. See what I am getting at?

My grandmother did likewise at 94 when faced with another surgery/round of chemicals and she passed soon afterwards. It wasn't like her to acquiesce, so I think she "knew" as well.

I spoke with my younger brother last night. Hospice is coming to his home now. He is rapidly failing at the young age of 62. He told me that he would not go to the hospital any more. That he could not suffer any longer their efforts to keep him alive. Knowing his condition, I could only agree.
It was a heartbreaking and sobering (and for him a very labored) conversation. My other brother and I now wait for the call whenever it comes.

Actually she is from Rye NY. She is a Pierce, I am from the same family, but something like 3rd cousins with her.
Meh, on her politics :(. Though she never made a jerk of herself (except for a few Trump observations) and always acted with dignity.
I do wish for her a peace and freedom from all fear.

I understand sympathy toward a person dying.
What I don’t understand is the adoring nostalgia and whitewash I see displayed here on FR toward an entire family empire ( all the Bushes) who absolutely worked to destroy our nation....

My Dad did too, in 1970. It was awful for him! He had a digestive system illness too, on top of it, but the COPD (Emphysema) was no help, and probably did him in! He had surgery to remove an infection due to Diverticulitis, and the doctor was sure it was all removed. But since the lung and heart are connected, the lung ailment was a drag on his heart. So in a way, it is probably what will or has happened to Mrs. Bush, and it will be a drag on her’s, poor lady. There’s been hardly any news on the health status of her and her husband at all. I’m surprised that there’s been no news that she even had COPD, although I knew she had Thyroid issues!
