WV GOP Candidate Wants ‘Swamp Captain’ McConnell To ‘Stop Interfering’

GOP infighting broke out again Monday as West Virginia Republican Senate candidate Don Blankenship compared Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to a “Swamp captain” and “the Russians.”

As Politico reports, Blankenship, who owns a lot of coal in the state, was incarcerated for a year after a 2010 explosion in one of his mines and the GOP establishment has not embraced his Senate candidacy — reportedly campaigning against Blankenship with a series of attack ads purchased by a political action committee (PAC) named Mountain Family PAC.

Blankenship defines his war as one with McConnell, whom he encourages to stay in the Senate and “out of West Virginia.

“McConnell should not be in the U.S. Senate, let alone be the Republican Majority Leader. He is a Swamp captain,” reads a Monday statement from Blankenship. “The Russians and McConnell should both stop interfering with elections outside their jurisdictions.”

McConnell's man, Evan Jenkins is in third. So the nomination is between Morrissey and Blankenship, with Morrissey the likely winner.

Looked around and didn’t see much polling.

My question would be “Who has the best chance of beating Manchin in November?”

Oh, well if McConnell doesn’t get his swamp candidate, I am sure he will campaign for Manchin against the R, just like he did against Roy Moore in AL. And all the cucks on FR will be crowing about the “unelectable” R candidate losing because real conservatives don’t want more McConnell allies in the Senate. Cuck is the wrong word for them actually, but close nevertheless. The real word need not be said in a public forum.

Hope so. A Blankenship nomination just hands the election to Manchin.

How is Blakenship and Jenkins?

The question you should be asking is how is Jenkins and Manchin? Who is more conservative? Blankenship was convicted on charges stemming from the death of 27 coal miners at one of his mines. A Blankenship nomination hands the election to Manchin on a silver platter.

Jenkins is McConnell’s guy. Blankenship is more conservative.

Last thing we need is another Alabama. Lose an easy election by putting up idiots. Mcconnell’s Job is to get numbers in the senate. He’s doing a good thing here.
