There is a movement going on in some circles of evangelicalism to embrace the stupidity of liberalism and reject conservatism.

Gospel is Gospel, but some of these “leaders” look smug disdain on anyone who SUPPORTS social and fiscal conservatism as an application of their faith.

Beware.

Simpler than that.

For some of those folks evangelicalism is simply FOR SALE.

Seeker sensitives...guys like Andy Stanley and Rob Bell. They're abandoning scripture. Rob Bell said that as long as the church insists on relying on letters that 2,000 years old it will never move forward in the modern world. That was in response to a question from Oprah about when the Christian church will finally get around to accepting gay marriage. He and his wife are fully onboard now. Andy Stanley did a whole sermon called "Because the Bible Tells Me So" that mocked Christians reliance on the Word of God for seeking Truth.

If whatever meeting they have doesn’t include Franklin Graham, then it has nothing to do with evangelism.

I am not sure yet what they are trying to do, but it is not real evangelism.

Tim Keller is a good preacher and writer. I own a couple of his books (like “Reason for God”) and he has helped spread the Gospel in the darkness of New York City. He is a good man.

My criticism comes in when the web site he founded with Don Carson (an outstanding Biblical scholar) begins to embrace a modified but unmistakable liberal world view when it comes to cultural issues.

If anyone remembers the so-called “Emergent Church” movement from a free a few years ago in evangelicalism, they’ll recall it was a very thinly disguised hard left political agenda. The Gospel Coalition seems to be trying to go between the leftists in that group and those of us who are strong conservatives. TGC doesn’t promote sinful lifestyles or advocate for abortion, etc. Yet it also takes veiled or not so veiled swipes at people who suggest racism can be the fault of people with white AND black skin. Also in the crosshairs? Christians who believe Donald Trump is doing a good job. Somehow we aren’t supposed to be pleased with him, even though TGC authors (there are several) will grudgingly acknowledge Hillary was a bad choice.

>>Gospel is Gospel

Gospel is Gospel, but Social Gospel is not Gospel.

He has changed in recent years. I used to read his work, but quit following him last year becuase of his moves to Social Gospel.

The remnant of a remnant will contain the purest expression of the Holy Spirit. From this tiny core of faith will emerge a reawakening, reformation, and restoration that will capture the world for Christ. Pray and wait on the Lord.

Sometimes I wonder, is it all about control with these freemasons?

If one views Christianity as an “opium of the people", then I guess “they” see themselves as dealers.

You are right about the Gospel Coalition. There are too many comments for my comfort from those who are in the GC group and attended the Wheaton gathering acknowledging white privilege. That is a huge red flag for me and a road we should not travel. The evangelicals promoting that are adopting the context of Marxist secular world view.

I had a similar thought. Praying that is God’s will in all of this.

That’s a nice sentiment. I’m going to stick with actual scripture on this subject. This falling away and false teachers and prophets does not end with people capturing the world for Christ.

Christ gathers his people. The rest go with Satan.

Exactly. Discernment is the key. Sometimes they publish good stuff, but too often it smacks of elitism and arrogance.

They have come to reflect entertainment in that respect. Some good, some bad. You cannot just “trust” them as a source.

A good friend reminds me that it is important to read the Bible, not nearly as important to read books about the Bible.

I still get The Gospel Coalition videos in my YouTube feed, but I have pretty much quit watching them, since almost all of the recent ones are about racism. A couple of my closest friends are Black. We have been close friends for over 25 years. We NEVER talk about racism. We are just friends. We don’t need long talks about it and I am tired of all the people in the media (including YouTube pastors) telling me that I’m a racist simply because I am white and I support Trump’s policies.

Ditto from here.

Well, that is the current push isn’t it? Our new, very young, associate pastor is spearheading the topic of gospel reconciliation and race. My husband asked main pastor if there is a problem in our church and he said “Oh not!” I feel like we are a class project for this young man who is currently studying to be a preacher. Many men in our church went to T4G. Seems that was prominent there as well. In my opinion too many people talk and write and blog too much.
