WASHINGTON—At least two of the memos that former FBI Director James Comey gave to a friend outside of the government contained information that officials now consider classified, according to people familiar with the matter, prompting a review by the Justice Department’s internal watchdog...

The Justice Department inspector general is now conducting an investigation into classification issues related to the Comey memos, according to a person familiar with the matter. Mr. Comey has said he considered the memos personal rather than government documents. He has told Congress that he wrote them and authorized their release to the media “as a private citizen...”

IG typically hasn’t had leaks. DOJ lately has been quiet. Someone fed this to WSJ for what purpose? Or the writers have been lurking on social media and cobbled together the story.

I thought there were 7 memos in total, 4 of which were classified?

His “friend” morphed into his private attorney (presumably for attorney-client protections). Let’s see if the FBI raids the “friend’s” home, office, car, recently used hotel room, and have a Manafort-style felony toss of all of his junk, and feeling up of his wife. :::::crickets:::::

Comey now says that he can’t remember how many memos there were. I guess he knows that one that was released had to be classified if the total was seven. Maybe he learned the I-don’t-recall thing from Hillary.

Fox has been covering - he even mentioned that he thought it was classified and wondered if the classification shouldn’t be higher than it was - no wonder he opted to do a single-handed pardoning of Hillary - he’s as guilty as she is and he has no excuses of being ignorant...

Should be in breaking.

If Comey gave these to ANYONE in without redaction, it's a felony. No ifs, ands or buts.

What's worse is the specific reason he gave for committing the felony was to sick a special counsel on POTUS.

All this knowing the Steele dossier was garbage.

Comey is seditious criminal.

So Comey was giving information later deemed classified to a New York Law Professor named Richman.

Be careful, investigating this may be a hate crime..

NOT "later deemed classified." Classified.

This was the *head of the FBI* and it was his own content. At the time the memos were written, even HE stated (in writing) that they were classified.

WOW! I saw this was from the WSJ and almost didn’t click on it because of the WSJ’s damned paywall. They must have screwed up because this article wasn’t hiding behind the paywall.

IMHO, this has turned into a giant, worthless soap opera. Let’s let the rubber hit the road. Indictments, trials, prison time.

And after the fact, in an honest Justice System that dog don’t hunt.

I love that “later deemed classified” meme! That might actually work for a subordinate if a document weren’t properly marked. In Comey’s case, however, he had (emphasis on the past tense) Original Classification Authority and was responsible for taking into control, properly classifying and marking classified documents. No more a defense for him than it should have been for the Clinton bitch, but he no longer has a sleazy FBI Director to cover his ass - at least I don’t think so...

It's funny to watch. It's as if they're all pretending there's some invisible FBI-jesus determining classification.

The FBI Director himself wrote the memos. Then (IN WRITING from his own hand), confirms they're classified. Then he admits to surreptitiously and illegally leaking them with the explicit intent to start a special counsel.

Oh and lying about it all to congress...there's that.

His personal friend, later Comey claims his attorney doesn’t have clearance to view those classified documents.

Much like David Kendall “storing” and then reviewing Hillary’s emails

Why hasn’t Comeys friends house and office been raided? Mueller too busy trying to sniff Trump’s boxers?

How great would it be for Comey to go to prison for mishandling classified information after covering up for Clinton doing the same?
