Iran is the largest sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East. They now have strong footholds in Iraq and Syria.

This is an incredibly sobering statement about Iran's new "Justice Minister". I know there are some who defend Iran got tolerating presence of Christians, but they are a brutal Totalitarian Regime.

Looks like more Saudi financed propaganda to help agitate the US to fight Iran. I googled the author of the article and he's with an outfit called the Arabian Gulf Center for Iranian Studies.

I was told by a Syrian source that I totally trust that Iran hanged 10,000 people last year.

I came to reading news on Twitter in 2009 during the #IranElection phase. I know for a fact they arrested thousands of young people using cell phones exposing what was happening in Iran at that time.

My Tweets and contacts are still in my timeline from then. It is very sobering to see the number that are grayed out (no longer active).

More than likely 1/2 of those young people who were arrested were never seen again.

In my opinion, there are 2 great centers of evil in the Middle East. Turkey and Iran. (Yes, I know about SA)

The Federalist is not a foreign source. (I have no issue with foreign sources, I know several that are head and shoulders better than most US sources)

The author? I don’t know him. What he said is credible to me. Evidently the EU felt the same way.

Mass executions? Should never happen in this day and time. But they do.

I have seen many reports of ISIS women tried in Iraq and sentenced to death. And quickly executed. I don’t defend ISIS, but I’ve been told that recent increase of Iranian influence in Iraq is the reason that dozens of these have taken place.

I understand the Sunni vs Shia forever battle but Iran should have been pummeled a long time ago. A world without Iran’s oppressive leaders would be a good thing. There is a reason why Obama ignored Iran’s Green Revolution, handed them billions with a nod and wink to their nuclear ambitions.

One other thing that raises a red flag on this article is that the publisher of the Federalist web site is Ben Domenech, son-in-law of "Bomb Iran" John McCain. And I have a natural aversion to alarmist articles from foreigners urging a greater sacrifice of American blood and money.

I'm not saying that Iran is a model nation, but their history of supporting terror in the West is much less than what comes from the radicals in the other main section of Islam. And the alternative to an Iranian role in stabilizing the Middle East is either permanent chaos or permanent American involvement there. And since chaos helps nobody and American lives and wealth are limited, I'd rather accept Iran and hope that one day over time the Iranian people modify that regime when we aren't implacable and backing them into a corner.

I know a lot of good people have an aversion to Iran, but to treat a nation with a 4,000 year old history like it was ISIS is counterproductive and only serves to rally the Iranian public around leaders that they might otherwise not like so much.

I guess if I lived in Iran this would be concerning.

But I don’t. So I don’t care.

The problem is what would happen after we pummel Iran. What balancing forces would be left in the Middle East?

I don’t live in Iran, or the Middle East. And will probably not go there.

But I have a personal attachment to Israel and some close friends in Syria. Other local friends have niece in Turkey. So, I am not indifferent.

While the source of this article may be solid, the big question is whether futher military involvement in the Middle East helps the USA.

I did not know that. I did know about John McCain being that way.

There is torture like we have done and “then” there is torture as was done in the middle ages. In the ME it is still practices almost the same.

It is a horrible end. Like Saddam did to others. Sadistic crap.

I read ‘Commanche Moon’ earlier this year.

Some good torture tips in that one, I can tell you.

I did not plan any of that. It just happened.

The ones in Syria, I made here on the web. The others not so.

I’ve followed a lot of conflicts. Since Twitter it has become more interesting. I’ve always been able to find a trustworthy local that I built a friendship and trust upon. With most of them, we still keep “sort of” in contact. Not as often but still friends. I send them article that I think they might be interested in and we discuss the reality from our different perspectives.

Not much of that remains from the 2009 Iran conflict. Only two that are outside of Iran.

Never really made those connection in the Ukraine conflict, it was relatively short. Had friends but it ended pretty quick.

Egypt? I still have 4-5 good friends there. We still send each other messages about common interests. That one was shorter than the one in Syria. But I worked closely with a blogger in Cairo and a few others that were active in the removal of Morsi.

Made some friend connected to the Libya mess. Both Gaddafi’s situation and then in Benghazi. That one lead eventually to Syria.

Syria has been a 3-4 year journey. Not sure where that will end. No one can see the future in that Region.

There were others that I did not list. shorter duration.

But I’ve been following things like this since the mid 1970’s. Mode of operation has changed with technology.
