Michael Cohen Tried to Apologize to Melania Trump for Stormy Daniels Payment: Report
Newsweek ^ | 4/20/18 AT 3:17 | BY JESSICA KWONG

Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen reportedly attempted to apologize to the president’s wife, Melania Trump, over the payment he made to cover up his client’s alleged affair with Stormy Daniels.

Cohen approached and tried to say sorry to the first lady earlier this year at a GOP fundraiser held at the president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, The New York Times reported Friday.

The Times story did not detail what, if any, response the first lady had to Cohen at the time.

The first lady has been silent on the alleged affair, even as additional details have emerged.

A spokeswoman for Melania Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Newsweek on Friday.

Paul S. Ryan, vice president of policy and litigation for the watchdog Common Cause, told Business Insider earlier this month that Cohen could argue that the payments were made to prevent the first lady from being embarrassed.

“Further investigation may ... undercut any argument by Michael Cohen that this payment wasn't about keeping the information from voters but to keep the information from Melania,” Ryan said.

"I think to the extent that Cohen argues this was about keeping the information from Melania, then what Melania knew and when she knew it will certainly be relevant," Ryan continued, explaining that she, too, could help the FBI’s investigation

Look what it could be doing to Barron, too. He has to go to school with some (probably) horrible Dem kids who parrot things their parents say. I can't imagine what it would be like to grow up like that. Money doesn't solve all problems, makes them worse sometimes.

Maybe not being able to shield her son from it hurts Melania even more.

I hate these headlines that make a statement and then at the end use a colon and :report or :sources or :some say. It’s probably all a lie.

Newsweak, the magazine who wouldn’t print Mike Isikoff’s article about the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal because they claimed they didn’t have two verified sources for the story. So now they’ll print anything, even unverified stories from the New York Slimes. They’ve gone from bad to worse.

“Mr. Welch: You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?”

I can not imagine why a lawyer would apologize to the First Lady over his actions in this situation. Even if the accusations were true, an apology will not serve any positive purpose for the recipient, only, perhaps, for the one apologizing. That is the exact opposite of the situation in which an apology is appropriate.

Similarly, I cannot imagine why any decent person would want to put the First Lady under oath for this sort of questioning. That sounds like a perjury trap. If Melania says she knew nothing, there would be several hundred witnesses to her being told, and those witnesses would by some miracle include 80% of democrats in high office. If Melania says she knew, that harms several people without illuminating the “case”, not unless it’s clear that Trump and Cohen both knew that she knew. Even thought this is about sex, and lies about sex are not really a crime (according to Team Clinton and all democrats), in this case it would be treated by all democrats and by insider republicans as cause both for imprisoning Melania Trump and for impeachment/removal from office.

Have the globalists left no sense of decency?

Trump is not a target.

Melania should not be under any threat of being called.

Bill Clinton appears to have raped women and forced himself on them. He got BJs in the Oval Office, causing some folks to start referring to it as the Oral Office.

Reagan wouldn’t take his suit jacket off in the Oval Office, and Bill Clinton got stains on a blue dress there.

Now Trump is accused of doing things by consent with an adult.

When it was a barely of age young woman with and over 50 year old man, while both consenting, it wasn’t considered a problem at all by the Democrats.

Now when Trump is accused of having consensual sex with an adult, all of a sudden it’s a sign of poor morals.

This double standard angers me.

If Trump did it, he shouldn’t have. Those who thought it was terrible that folks were angry about Clinton’s behavior because Hillary would be hurt, now have no problem bringing up this trash to hurt Melania.

Melania to my knowledge hasn’t harmed anyone.

Wish we could say that for Hillary. It appears she hired PIs to threaten Bill’s victims and otherwise.

The NYT is probably full of it but Cohen is not the type who would take a fall for anyone except to save himself.

I don't know why Trump ever thought he could rely on an yehta like Cohen. Big mistake.

So, I’m going to tag this mentally as fake news, being that the NYSlimes may be trying to set the stage that Trump knew about the payment.
