If people were not so easily lied to they might take the time to find out that those reusable bags aren’t exactly benign when it comes to leaving a carbon footprint. They don’t grow on trees and they don’t just pouf into stores.

Unless a plastic “take out” bag tears I’m going to give use for holding wet coffee grounds, scooping cat poo, holding rotten vegetables....never just a “single use!”

Because everyone knows paper manufacturing is so environmentally friendly.

Put all your plastic grocery bags in a large box and send them to Andy Panda Cuomo at the Executive Mansion in Albany, NY, or his office at the State Capitol in Albany.

“Believe it or not, I am capable of bringing a plastic bag home with me from the store AND not tossing it in the ocean!”

I am too. But for those who cannot, I am hoping technology will make inexpensive, biodegradable packaging materials.

Since the escape at Clinton Correctional Facility, the NYS Department of Corrections (NYDOCS) has mandated that all facility employees can only bring lunches, etc., into the facility in see-through plastic bags, and they want the employees to pay for them. Glad I retired in 2003 before this buffoon became Governor. It was bad enough working when his father was in office.

"So how do you get your dry cleaning?"

Rolled up in a ball and secured with rubber bands, until they ban all rubber bands.

Thanks for the info and clarification. I appreciate it. So, does BioPlastic degrade in a reasonable time period - irrespective of being in a landfill? I have no problem with using paper.

So how are people going to pick up dog poop?

If they don't want to use their bare hands they will have to go back to using old newspapers.

NONE of the top 10 rivers polluting the oceans with plastic are in this hemisphere.

Most folks use them for garbage bags, too. Since garbage bags are exempt, people will simply have to but more garbage bags which makes the plan.....stupid.

Yes and they are stronger and can hold more weight. Don’t worry about them getting wet. Plastic bags will save the trees.

Plastic bags? Pfffht.

When do they ban electricity and gas, the real offenders?

Another solution that will lead to worse problems than the original.

Only “high-capacity” plastic bags are banned...

First they came for the paper.... then they came for the plastic... then they came for the 32 ounce sodas...

Gee folks, ain’t it great how Comrade DiBlasio keeps you all so, so, SAFE from yourselves???

The national fight for independence from the most powerful king on the planet started there.

As well as in Philly.

And now those places aren’t even recognizable. Benedict Arnold was just ahead of his time, I guess.

So how are people going to pick up dog poop?

Imagine all the baggies of dog poop picked up daily and tossed into the trash. It's wrapped in a plastic baggie, never to decompose in landfills! A thousand years from now that dog poop will be worth a fortune as bio-matter but for now is a hazard. Now we need a new law that forces dog owners to rinse out those plastic poop bags and reuse them. /s
