Duncan’s confirmation Tuesday afternoon on a mostly party-line 50-47 vote illustrates how the Senate rules change has made it easier for lawyers with a more ideological past to get lifetime appointments to the bench, and then preside over contentious disputes on abortion, civil rights and other issues where their past views are clear.
I am so sick and tired of the propaganda, lying, and deceit of the press.

This should have been written as follows so as to be correct and honest:
Duncan’s confirmation Tuesday afternoon on a mostly party-line 50-47 vote illustrates how the Senate rules change has made it easier for lawyers with a more CONSERVATIVE ideological past to get lifetime appointments to the bench, and then preside over contentious disputes on abortion, civil rights and other issues where their past views are clear.

Only one Democrat, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who is running scared, broke with his party to support Mr. Duncan.

The bad news is that it required a democrat vote to make it to 50. Which republican abstained ?

So if one democrat got them to 50, it means there are only 49 living Republicans in the Senate these days.
