Now...what lefties would like to do America to is as you wrote but look to our universities for what happens when they are the ruling majority on campus.

Everything is racist to racists. They are trying to erase history little by little so they can continue to rewrite it.
The rationale for the change is that the new name, Hollywood-Burbank Airport, gives it a sense of place. However, Bob Hope's patriotism and outspoken support for our country and its values flies in the face of today's liberal mindset, so you don't have to have a PhD from Cal Tech to diagnose the real reason that the name was changed. Had the airport been named for Jane Fonda or Alec Baldwin, you can bet your bottom buck that the name would never have been changed.
