Conservative Groups Stand Against Carbon Tax

A coalition of conservative and free market think tanks are heaping praise on an anti-carbon tax resolution that was recently introduced in the lower chamber of Congress.

Americans for Tax Reform, along with more than 20 like-minded organizations, issued a joint statement Thursday in support of a House resolution that explicitly condemns a tax on carbon dioxide pollution. Majority Whip Steve Scalise and West Virginia Rep. David McKinley introduced the nonbinding resolution. The one page resolution states that “a carbon tax would be detrimental to American families and businesses, and is not in the best interest of the United States.”

The idea of a carbon tax — a charge levied on companies according to the amount of CO2 they emit into the atmosphere — has been recommended as a possible alternative to strict regulations. Liberal lawmakers and a handful of environmentally-minded Republicans have pushed such proposals.

“Carbon Tax” is like “obamacare tax”, a big rip off.

Would we prefer what is happening now? Taxing citizens for other reasons and spending big bucks for carbon reduction?

I think this should be an open debate: how important is carbon reduction and what should we do about it?

If we act at all, I think a tax is a fine incentive to encourage free markets to solve the problem.

1 ton of coal: under $40

carbon tax on that same coal: over $50

Alberta Canada

Yeah, good plan.

How about banning it because the war on carbon is a scam based on fake science?

Only #FakeScience considers CO2 to be a pollutant.

CO2 is as vital to life as O2.

That's only the beginning.
Is something created out of nothing; it indirectly financially affects all taxpayer with non-government jobs without their consent.
The taxpayer has no role in how it is spent, and there is never an audit mechanism.

It allows the predators and other criminals to become "brokers," raking the tax funds off the top.

(Think Al, the Criminal Dork, Gore.)

All based on computer models (which are ALL 100% wrong, and have always been) in their projections in the real world, without confirmation by real scientists.

Just another scam, perhaps the biggest of the last 100 years.

Lets just propose that 100.1%, never less, of all the tax collected be applied to the national debt, and see how unpopular it becomes, instantly!
