Launching of Operations To Liberate Final ISIS Strongholds in Syria (Statement by Heather Nauert)
The U.S. Department of State ^ | May 1, 2018 | Heather Nauert

Posted on 05/01/2018 10:33:48 PM PDT by Texas Fossil

The United States, the Global Coalition, and local partners, including the Syrian Democratic Forces, are launching operations to liberate the final ISIS strongholds in Syria. The fighting will be difficult, but we and our partners will prevail. We will defend United States, Coalition, and partner forces if attacked. The days of ISIS controlling territory and terrorizing the people of Syria are coming to an end.

We will work with our NATO ally Turkey and our partners Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon to secure their borders from ISIS. We will seek further fair share contributions in forces, material, and resources from regional partners and allies to stabilize liberated territories. As the President said in remarks with President Emmanuel Macron of France, we will ensure that there is a strong and lasting footprint in Syria such that ISIS cannot return and populations liberated from ISIS are not exploited by the Assad regime or its Iranian supporters.

We will reinvigorate the Geneva process under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254, and mobilize international resources to address Syria’s urgent humanitarian and stabilization needs. The United States is committed to ensuring a future political settlement that honors the will of all Syrians, including Sunni Arabs, Kurds, Christians, Turkmen, and other minorities.

I see renewed resolve to finish this task, eliminating ISIS in Syria.

And to stabilize the region to prevent ISIS coming back.

I guess they have to brush it up for the enemedia.

“Exterminate” would have been a better word than “liberate”.

You liberate friends, allies and victims.

You exterminate Muslim terrorists.

They are liberating the strongholds, not ISIS.

But point is taken.

Nobody had done the job of “eliminating” ISIS, like Syrian Kurds have.

We will work with our NATO ally Turkey

Really? Unless someone pulled Erdogan aside and made him an offer he can't refuse, Turkey is actively working with ISIS in Northern Syria to push out the Kurds and effectively take possession of parts of Syria. Could we have made some kind of deal with them?

Describing Turkey as a “NATO ally” exposes the entire operation as a fraud. Turkey has funded ISIS. Its major foe is the Kurds. We will betray the Kurds as we have done repeatedly.

Launching a new operation means to me that the ground fores have been reassembled after the Afrin operation - taking the initiative and to the field.

There has been an incredible flurry of high level coordination among the Western coalition - even Angela Merkel held her nose and marched her butt into the White House. SecState has been busy. The Senate rather suddenly approved Pompeo, like there was a new fire lit under their butt - similar to the sudden political reconciliation and new war powers approved in Israel.

This indicates to me that the political leadership of the West is geared up to take significant action soon, for a kind of a big deal.

"...We will work with our NATO ally Turkey ..."

Agreed that Turkey is in no way our ally.

They are our enemy.

Big Deal indeed. And in the background the Globalist/Leftist/Islamist cabal is wreaking havock in otherwise stable nations. The UK has a similar divided within their country to that in ours ours, to the point of affecting their government structure about the "appointment" of the members of the House of Lords. The EU is a big part of the very real threat against European freedom. And the epicenter of it is in Brussels.

LORD LAMONT: I've always backed the House of Lords. But after this Brexit power grab, my colleagues are forcing me to reconsider

note: in the UK they call them "Remainers", here in the US they are called "Resisters". Both are Blind Globalist Pukes or their shills. Both are threats to freedom. Both use bureaucratic slide of hand to oppose the results of the results at the ballot box.

No we have not made a “deal” with Erdogan.

Yes, his actions are exactly as you stated.

Turkey’s public finance just got downgraded to “junk bond” status. He will soon have several real crisis’s on his hands.

Turkey under Erdogan the Islamist is totally incompatible with NATO or EU membership.

He soon will be enraged more than his normal insanity.

I don't believe that will happen. That said, all else you stated is totally true.

No we have not made a “deal” with Erdogan.

Yea, it was more rhetorical, calling out the State Dept's claim we will "Work with Turkey" against ISIS. As for betraying the Kurds, I don't think not going to war against Turkey is "betrayal". The Kurds hold a large swath of Syria and we were key in helping them take and hold it. In fact, it's not at all clear we have promised them anything beyond what we have provided.

Thanks. It is a good map and it is current. More current date than anything I have. I’ve found that the date on the map does not guarantee that the data it is composed upon is not that date.

I have a pretty extensive list of maps and links to maps for battles and the region going back a long ways.
