NEW YORK (AP) — For 108 years, the Boy Scouts of America’s flagship program has been known simply as the Boy Scouts. With girls soon entering the ranks, the group says that iconic name will change.
The organization on Wednesday announced a new name for its Boy Scouts program: Scouts BSA. The change will take effect next February.
“We wanted to land on something that evokes the past but also conveys the inclusive nature of the program going forward,” said Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh. “We’re trying to find the right way to say we’re here for both young men and young women.”

this is stupid. they already have girl scouts.
Pathetic that they caved so easily, (on many issues). Hollow shell of what they once were. One better hope they’re local troop are decent, because national admin is ruining this organization.
As the father of an Eagle Scout I feel I can comment.

They do away with the 2nd Class rank also. It infers inferiority.
Heck, just do away with rank all together.

Now all boys should be able to play with the girls in softball and girls soccer.
Looks like caving in to the cultural Marxists hasn't boosted their membership.
We are the boys from Camp Cucamonga, our parents sent us here for to study nature’s ways:

This was tried back in the early 70’s.
In an effort to attract young urban Black males, the organization re-styled itself “Scouting USA” on the theory that “Boy” was off-putting to said urban Black males. A gratuitous change in headgear to a red beret was also made.
Rank requirements we also re-vamped to de-emphasize outdoor/nature skills and reflect social awareness.
The whole exercise was a miserable failure and was rolled back after a few years.
I predict this development will meet with a similar end.
BTW—I still have my red beret.
I still donate $25 per year to the Scouts because they perform a service for me. On all the flag holidays (excerpt for Veterans’ Day, which is a school day for them) they put an American Flag in front of our house at curbside, next to our mailbox. If they weren’t doing something for me, I would never contribute to any of their fundraising efforts. They are a dead organization to me now and unworthy IMO of support.
