Cambridge Analytica, the Trump-affiliated data firm at the center of Facebook's worst privacy scandal in history, is declaring bankruptcy and shutting down.

The London firm blamed "unfairly negative media coverage" and said it has been "vilified" for actions it says are both legal and widely accepted as part of online advertising.

Conveniently forgetting FascistBook gave hussein44 ALL of its personal data in 2008/2012.

CA was GCHQ. If more people understood “Five Eyes” they’d have a better handle on Brennan’s role in this and the unusual set of coincidences in early 2016 following his formerly-secret trip to Moscow (and who knows where else).

They were Obama-affiliated long before they were Trump-affiliated.

I am a little confused. I thought Google and Facebook harvested all of our personal data and sold it anyway.

Is the scandal that, President Trump may have benefited from it?

Facebook is the company at the center of the Facebook privacy scandal.

It’s quite simple:

Democrat uses data from Cambridge Analytical = NOT Scandal

Republican, especially Donald Trump, uses data from Cambridge Analytical = HUGE Scandal (possibly even major crimes)

See how it works?

;-)

Got caught, will dissolve, but will likely reappear under new identity.

This as Fakebook reveals they themselves have datamined the Instagram posts of billions of photos (including those without facebook accounts) because it’s free/public data for testing/other uses.

Got caught doing what, exactly?

See post 8 by WayneS for a concise summation of events.

When people post information to public Facebook pages, there can be no expectation of privacy. When Facebook provided their data to CA, that merely saved CA from paying for a lot of typing.

Users made their data freely available to anyone who cared to look. CA (or anyone else) could have constructed a sufficient data base, by simply retyping the info from their computer screen. Obviously, that would have cost a ton of money — but, it could have been done that way. That’s very different from (say) the NSA covertly accessing “private” conversations. Facebook didn’t need to wiretap anyone — users did that to themselves.

All that said, at least people are now “woke” to the problems that oversharing on-line can create.

Facebook is safe.

They promised Congress a Brave New World where everyone supports the wise men of Congress—or else Facebook shuts them down—and Congress said....”Cool...Go for it!”

:-(
