Sessions is a useless little turd. The only thing he is good for is to make sure Rosentein has hot coffee on his deck in the morning. It’s not really about “cheerleading” for Sessions - I don’t see many FReepers trying to argue what a good guy Sessions is, or even that he’s doing a passable job as AG.
What I see instead is a few FReepers daring to question the constant monotone narrative of Sessions haters - that literally ALL of this mess (Mueller’s witch hunt) is happening because of Jeff Sessions. And any viciousness I’ve seen is coming from the Sessions haters - not the other way around.
The narrative that gets inserted into every single FR thread, is always the same - that the Mueller investigation exists and persists entirely due to one man’s recusal and refusal to stop it: Jeff Sessions.
If not for Sessions failure as an AG, there would have been no Russia/Trump collusion investigation, the deep state would have been purged from DOJ, FBI, etc., and the impeach Trump arm of the Senate Intel committee would have “taken a powder”, according to the narrative.
That’s a cleaned-up version of the narrative, absent the vicious personal attacks on Sessions and anyone who fails to blame him enough.
But that’s simply not the way the Mueller investigation came about, and the fantasy that an assertive AG like Giuliano could have prevented an investigation, purged the deep state and put the Clintons in jail by now is a fairy tale.
What I remember was that in December of 2016, after Trump’s surprise victory, what dominated the news cycle 24/7 was deep state heads of the FBI, CIA and DOJ urging the deep state Senate Intel committee to form a Watergate style Senate Select Committee to look into this dire threat to our democracy - namely, Russian/Trump collusion to sabotage Hillary Clinton’s campaign for POTUS. Senate Intel Committee leaders of both parties, notably Schumer and McCain, echoed these “concerns” and applied constant and immense pressure to empanel a Senate Select Comittee and special prosecutor.
Virtually ALL of my Democrat and never-Trump acquaintances were absolutely convinced Trump would be removed from office in a matter of weeks. The MSM, Hollywood and late night talk show chorus was so convinced and convincing that I was regularly winning drinks or $ by betting people that Trump would still be in office in THREE WEEKS.
We now know that the deep state’s urgency in framing Trump for muh Russia and pushing for his removal was not just an attempt to reverse the election outcome, but also a mad rush to cover up the true corruption - THEIR attempt to throw the election to Clinton - they had fully expected that Clinton would win, and their corrupt manipulations would therefore be rewarded rather than punished.
Keep in mind that all this urgent push from heads of FBI, CIA, etc. and echoed by Senate Intel committee leaders and the MSM was being touted as a threat to national security - of “grave concern” to Democrats, neverTrumper Republicans, the heads of Intel departments and the entire deep state bureaucracy that Trump had just inherited and declared war on by saying he would drain the swamp.
Keep in mind this was all happening before Jeff Sessions’ recusal. Keep in mind that when Comey was fired, the cries for investigation and impeachment only got louder and were then joined by cries of “obstruction”.
Keep in mind that when Michael Caputo said “Damn you all to Hell”, he was talkng to the Senate Intel Committee - the real culprits - they laid down an ultimatum for Trump: either your DOJ picks an investigator acceptable to us and accountable to us, or we will empanel a senate select committee and appoint a special prosecutor AKA Watergate. That was the choice put before Trump in the early days of his presidency and that is how the Mueller witch hunt came about. Not because of Jeff Sessions.
I think the Mueller witch hunt is shameful and abusive and it is tragic that a well meaning POTUS who wants to drain the swamp and MAGA has to face this deep state tyranny from all sides - but it’s the battle he chose when he decided to drain the swamp - nobody said it would be easy.
And let’s face it - empanelment of a Senate Select Committee appointed Watergate style Special Prosecutor would have been far, far worse. When Trump authorized Mueller investigation within the DOJ (and it WAS Trump who ultimately made that call), Trump dodged a bullet. By comparison, Mueller is nasty and a sad waste of time, but toothless.
So ask yourself - what is the point of redirecting every single conversation away from the true deep state threat that surrounds Trump - and repeating the same tired mantra - that the neglect of one man, Jeff Sessions, is the cause of all Trump’s problems?
It has to be some concerted effort to distract from the real issue - Trump is trying to drain the swamp and the swamp is not going down easy. They would love to provoke Trump into a Saturday Night Massacre and breathe new life into their strategy to remove him AKA Richard M Nixon.
So far, Trump is not taking the bait - thank God. But it sure seems like the Sessions haters on FR are agitating for him to take the bait, hook line and sinker. Their answer to everything is always the same - fire lots of people.
That would be a terrible mistake - which is the reason I disagree with the Sessions haters - it has nothing to do with “cheerleading” for Sessions, (I don’t care about Sessions personally - go ahead and make fun of him. I think the Keebler Elf meme is kind of funny). - it has nothing to do with “Q”, (who I don’t even follow) - it has nothing to do with thinking Mueller is a “white hat” (I assume Mueller hates Trump’s guts) - it has nothing to do with 4D chess -
The way to drain the swamp is not to have a Saturday Night Massacre. The way to drain the swamp is turn the public against the deep state by exposing them as the bottom feeders they are - and that’s exactly what Trump is doing.
