Spectrum rolled this Spectrum TV Choice product out in select markets just two months ago. I was able to buy the customizable Spectrum TV Choice package in North Idaho today. No cable TV box -- all content is delivered Over The Top via the internet to xBox and Roku box or Roku TV as well as to phones and tablets (Apple TV may be coming). This is the first somewhat decent effort by a cableco to deliver a la carte selection.

Has anybody tried this? What is your experience? I would not buy this except for the fact that Mrs. POF wants cable sports channels.

Price is $25 per month for the TV channel lineup below (24 tv channels + 50 music channels). I get to choose 10 additional channels from the 57 listed at bottom. 100 Mbps Internet is $45 for the first year, going up to $65 for Year 2 and beyond. So, for $70/month I get the semi-a la carte TV, 100 Mbps Internet, no cable box, waived activation fee, included cable modem (no charge) and I provide my own WiFi WAP/Router. For an additional $15/month, I can add a bundle of HBO, Showtime, The Movie Channel, Starz, and Starz Encore.

Thoughts?

Here is the channel line up:

It is not a la carte if you have to pay for the alphabets. Hold the line.

WOW!
That’s a fair deal!
(Great to see CNN as a ‘choice’.)

ALA Carte makes business sense- and it’s fair to the consumer.

I have Spectrum now as they bought Time Warner. I use a DVR at home, and record everything. As of Tuesday, I've been at my oldest son's apartment, taking care of his cats while he's in Germany. He only has Spectrum's internet. Got rid of his cable and digital phone several years ago. Has Netflix and a Roku.

I brought my laptop with me thinking I'd be able to access Spectrum, and watch some of the programs I'd scheduled to record so that I wouldn't have a pile of programs to watch when I got back home. Boy, was I in for a surprise. If you want to watch live TV on a computer or other device, they have a very limited list of available channels to choose from. I get a lot of different channels at home, but they all aren't available on Spectrum's website for live streaming away from home.

So, instead of using Spectrum's site, I've been going to the actual networks to view the most recent episodes so I can delete them from my recorded list on my account page. For example, tonight I watched the most recent episode of The Blacklist on NBC's website, SEAL Team on the CBS website, and The Americans on FX's website. Then I deleted them from my DVR recorded list on the Spectrum website. I did the same thing yesterday with the programs that had recorded on Tuesday. Unfortunately, not all the networks offer online streaming of their episodes, but hopefully I won't have a pile of programs to work through once I get back home.

If my son had Spectrum cable, I would have been able to access more of Spectrum's programming via their app on his Roku.

NO MSM, no CNN, no PubicBS, . Now, a small choice of the other stuff, might make it an option.

You’re stuck using Spectrum internet in order to get the deal though.

I currently have Spectrum streaming for $25 per month, no contract. My package is a standard set of channels but does not include ESPN or FNC. The service works well and can also be pulled up on my phone or tablet. Though a short distance from the local antennas, we have a hill in between that makes it hard to get a clear over the air signal. This was a low cost option to ensure reception and add some cable channels.

We have been offered that and didn’t get it, but it is not a “bad” offer. We do have Internet with them.

Their “free” modem is a Technicolor modem that needs to be rebooted daily to bring back its speed. It doesn’t hold its frequency lock well and the jitter values are terrible, due to the Intel Atom 6 chipset issues it has.

Spectrum is Charter communications, the WORST corporation in America, both for employees and customers.

I live in Killen, TX and have Spectrum Choice running on my Roku. Best damn deal going. Easy to use and set up. (I already had Spectrum Internet for 50/month). I was trying to cut the cord but it was difficult trying to stay current with Fox News. youtube keeps shutting down the channels. Anywho, since I only watch a handful of channels this is great.

A very kind woman pays for our Spectrum subscription at the local VFW.

I said the day it was installed.. “In a week, we will be watching the same 5 channels”

It took 1 day LOL!

Meanwhile the bundle is 1500 Channels of praline and dick!
Yesterday, the thing was on Bravo.
I said Mary, why am I watching 2 gay guys furnish their apt?

She says I don’t know, how to change the channel LOL
Nor did I, but I got Pawn stars on LOL

Cable is a JOKE
