Saudi Arabia has agreed a deal with the Vatican to build churches for Christian worshippers in the Arab country, it is claimed by Middle Eastern media.

If confirmed, the supposed agreement between Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran and Mohammed bin Abdel Karim Al-Issa of the Muslim World League would mark a historic first in Saudi history.

The cardinal has visited Saudi Arabia this year and met the royal family, urging the Muslim country to treat its citizens equally.

How many Christians or other non Muslims are in Saudi Arabia? It’s a big symbolic step, but may not affect many people.

And are there other motives? For example, in Islam, non believers are treated differently. Does Saudi want all non believers out of the closet, so they can pay the tax for being an infidel, for example?

Now if we can only get Francis to teach actual Catholicism in those churches...

While the article makes no mention of Trump, he undoubtedly has played a big part in this stunning development. Please note the same Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman mentioned in this article recently said “It is about time the Palestinians take (President Trump's) proposals and agree to come to the table or shut up and stop complaining.”

This is an incredible story. I hope the Crown Prince has someone testing his food and is watching his back. This is YUGE.

It’s too late for April Fool’s Day.
Could this really be an actual discussion?
Will Pope Francis claim the credit?

Probably there are many non-Muslims in KSA as part of the expat workforce. If they want the expertise, technology and labor they have to make it an attractive place to work. With the price of oil low they have to offer something besides salary. Who wants to work in a repressive environment with the religious police hassling you, and without any of the comforts of home when you can go somewhere much more tolerant like UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and even Kuwait and make the same money.

Those churches won’t be worth much after Francis gets done with his remodelling of The Church.

Saudi Arabia was freed. NK is next. China, Russia and others are coordinating to bring down the New World Order.

Exactly. It won’t stop the juridical crucifixions, beheadings, or mutilations by our Saudi “friends”.

This directly contradicts Wahabbi doctrine, on a major point (Muhammad’s last words - there should not be two religions (e.g. any other) in Arabia).

The Crown Prince seems to be confronting the Wahabbis head on. King Faisal was assassinated by a devout Wahabbi relative for much less (allowing TV broadcasts).

I think you’d be surprised at how many Christians there are in S.A., you have the vast majority of the service sector in S.A. and sundry other expats.
