Fake polls are also used for two other purposes: first-people like to be in the majority (the press uses this against us all the time with their fake liberal majority crap). Second- it is a cover for voter fraud. The result matches the expected result so no one looks for the fraud. Also, everytime they hype a group as going to really come out in force (soccer moms, youth, etc.) it is meant as a plausible cover for voter fraud.
It was deliberate efforts to manipulate opinion and get some to not bother to vote. Not sure it meets the full definition of “voter suppression”.
