Marx made a HUGE mistake in positing that man is motivated only by materialism

In fact man is motivated by the need for freedom and liberty supported by materialism.

For this reason socialism and communism has failed repeatedly and continues to fail. Marxism is nothing but an excuse for the totalitarian state. It will never support the pursuit of happiness or a more perfect social union that has freedom as its foundation.

Perfectly stated. As Hillary and the Progressives are learning, Marx cannot exist in a society that places personal freedom from government intrusion as its first protection. See I and II of the BOR.

Marx seemed to have a common view in his age among so-called enlightened intellectuals. A complete deductive system of logic can be imposed upon human society to make it perfect. This assumes that:

The premise of the system is correct.

Universe operates according to a set of deductive rules, which can be neatly managed.

Neither of them turned out to be true as time progresses. Science found out that the premise and the dynamic process of nature and human society are completely different from what they believed. Math, physics, and even computer science have shown that his notion of universe according to a deductive reasoning based on discrete set of rules is not true.

Anyway, below this seemingly logical facade, are scientifically unverified dogmas which appeal more to emotion than logic, something people can cling to with blind faith.

There’s a group of Marx-like characters that start arriving on scene around 1800, and by 1900...the system has more or less failed on the experiments (most all conducted at ‘farms’ in the US). There’s a great book by Christopher Jennings....”Paradise Now”, which details various utopian socialism experiments, and how they all failed. I’d strongly recommend to people.
