Newt Gingrich: Trump should 'just say no' to Mueller's absurd questions
Fox News ^ | May 5, 2018 | Newt Gingrich

President Trump should adopt first lady Nancy Reagan’s famous anti-drug slogan in his current fight with Special Counsel Robert Mueller. When asked to testify in Mueller’s Russia probe, Trump should “just say no.”

Based on the Monday New York Times story headlined “The Questions Mueller Wants to Ask Trump About Obstruction, and What They Mean,” by Matt Apuzzo and Michael S. Schmidt, many of the questions Mueller wants to ask President Trump are absurd. They are clearly a trap to establish a case for obstruction of justice or perjury.

Virtually no one could answer these questions with any certainty of detail. Consider this one: “What did you think about Mr. Comey’s intelligence briefing on Jan. 6, 2017, about Russian election interference?”

President Trump has spent more than 400 days in office, and Mueller would like him to accurately recall his thoughts about a particular meeting on a particular day.

Remember, this is not a casual conversation. This is a criminal investigation seeking to use the full force of law to lock people up – just ask former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn or Vice President Dick Cheney’s former Chief of Staff Scooter Libby, who was trapped into perjuring himself during the Valerie Plame case.

You can be sure, Mueller will have interviewed everyone he could find who heard President Trump react to the meeting with Comey 16 months ago. Mueller will have transcripts of everything President Trump has said and tweeted about that meeting. He will have the endless interviews with Comey. Mueller will then listen to the president and use any error of memory or effort to embellish to manufacture an obstruction or perjury charge.

Ask yourself: Could you reliably remember every detail of a meeting you had at a particular time 16 months ago – and...

I agree. NEVER give an enemy a single inch! And Mueller IS an enemy of both Trump and the interests of the American people.

Mueller: “What were you thinking when you fired James Comey?”

Trump: “That’s none of your business.”

Mueller: “Did you ever have any discussions with Gen. Flynt about his contacts with Russia”.

Trump: “That’s none of your business.”

I always say Thou Shalt Not Speak Ill of Donald Trump.
However, his staffing pattern makes him look bad to the public. He has the right to feel comfortable with loyal people (but when does that happen? Kellyanne and Sarah? His daughter?) Others go on TV to embarrass him.

Question” “What did Comey say to you in private and what did you say?” Trump answers truthfully. Comey, a known liar and perjurer disagrees.

Muller then accuses Trump of perjury. Hello Grand Jury.

It is that damn simple.

Or Trump could say, “Hmmm...I can’t recall, I’m sorry I don’t remember that, my brain’s in a blender, it’s jello.”

It worked once before.

Question” “What did Comey say to you in private and what did you say?”

He told me that he loved the intimate physical relationship you and he share, Mr. Mueller. I told him I was happy for the two of you, but that you should both come clean and be honest.

Really Newt? The same Robert Mueller that is a “superb choice to be special counsel”? And whose “reputation is impeccable for honesty and integrity”?

Trump to Mueller in a public question: “What have you found so far after nearly 2 years?”
Mueller: “Nothing”
Trump: “Your fired”

Mueller has not found anything but democrats committing crimes yet he is uninterested in them.

Any question Mueller asks means he is fishing or has an answer from someone else and he hopes to get Trump to answer differently so he can charge Trump with perjury. Tell Mueller to come into his office for a meeting, recorded, of course. Inquire of Mueller how his investigation of Russian collusion stands. When he admits he has nothing, instruct him he has one week to wrap up his investigations.

P.S. And send US Marshals to seize everything related to what Mueller and his band of Trump-haters has done in his investigation.

Best is right. They should dare Mueller to subpoena Trump. Then ignore the subpoena.

All that Mueller wants with any questions is to somewhere, anywhere, no matter how small, find one single he-says vs he-says case he can call “perjury” from which to try to hang on Trump. He is using Patrick Fitzgerald, a master at that, to help him. He and Fitzgerald must be very mad at Trump having pardoned Scooter Libby.
