WASHINGTONThe White House on May 5 sharply criticized Chinas efforts to force foreign airlines to change how they refer to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, labeling Chinas latest effort to police language describing the politically sensitive territories as Orwellian nonsense.
Amid an escalating fight over Chinas trade surplus with the United States, the White House said Chinas Civil Aviation Administration sent a letter to 36 foreign air carriers, including a number of U.S. carriers, demanding changes.
The carriers were told to remove references on their websites or in other material that suggests Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau are part of countries independent from China, U.S. and airline officials said.

And this additional article, describes:
"WASHINGTON Even by President Donald Trumps unpredictable and bare-knuckles style of negotiating, his economic teams visit to Beijing in recent days to confront China on trade was both bewildering and, for many in both countries and beyond, worrisome."
That article is titled "Trump teams talks in China raise questions and fears of a trade war"
“For the Trump administration, the reticence could also reflect the internal division among Trumps top economic and trade officials. Mnuchin, whom the White House statement said led the delegation, and Ross are thought to be more pragmatic. Lighthizer and trade adviser Peter Navarro, a China hawk, have been pushing a harder protectionist line against a country they regard as out to supplant American economic power.”
Reuters again!
Trash...
Can’t commend the Trump administration enough!
Such a clear statement is an example of draining the swamp.
Easy enough, stop flying to China, fixed. I believe it would take about 3 days for them to reconsider.
I think we should tell our airlines to stop flying to China.
We should cut China off from any economic access to the United States. Not for economic reasons,. but for things like this — and slave labor, dumping, theft of intellectual property, trying to take over the South China Sea, threatening us and our allies, and so many more blatantly illegal activities.
Seize all their assets, stop their stuff from coming in, stop our stuff from going there. And build up the military. Use President Reagan’s Soviet strategy against the Chinese.
They need us more than we need them.
Wow, are you living under a rock.
China exports around the world. While the USA is a major export destination, it actually only represents 11% of direct Chinese exports.
You know I live in China on a little area that lies between Macao and Hong Hong. Both Macao and Hong Kong are VERY Chinese. Don’t let CNN, MSNBC or Salon tell you different.
The same goes for Taiwan.
Look, I can well understand you angst directed at China. After all that Bill Clinton , and Obama did to our nation it’s great to have a target to direct our anger towards. But if so, then our anger and distraction will be directed at the wrong people.
All this talk about war, war war. All this talk about parkland and guns. All this talk about Muller investigations...
They are all distractions.
What really needs to happen is we take around 100 people. You know whom, and take them to the town squares and put a bullet in their heads. How these lizards can still get by and continue to mess things for the rest of me amazes me. Are not pissed off yet?
They have no “skin in the game”. They are insulated and isolated from the consequences of their actions.
So stop blaming China.
Go after the DNC, BLM, SJW, AntiFa, Soros, and the Clinton Crime Syndicate.
It depends on what you mean by that, but I think I respectfully disagree. I go to Taiwan all the time and speak Mandarin pretty fluently. The people there all speak Mandarin and many speak the Taiwanese dialect based on, I think, the Fujian dialect. They celebrate the same holidays and generally eat the same food as they do on the mainland, although many young people want to celebrate Christmas as well, or at least have it as a day off. So they are culturally Chinese for the most part, but many young people adore Japan, and at least half of the population, whether descendants of 1949 refugees or not, thinks of itself as simply a different country from China. After almost 70 years of separation, having spent 30 years living in freedom and democracy, they simply dont want reunification.
China is the major geopolitical threat. They need us more than we need them. Let’s see if we can’t weaken their ability to threaten anyone. Because if we don’t, they will.
Taiwan is as much a part of Red China as we are a part of Britain.
